Craig Morgan And Family Award Jerry Greer Memorial Scholarships

Craig Morgan alongside his wife Karen Greer and the entire family are honored to award the 2018 Jerry Greer Memorial Scholarship to deserving youth in Dickson County, Tennessee. The scholarship, now in its second year, is a memorial scholarship to honor their son Jerry’s energy, athleticism, and love of life. The Jerry Greer Memorial Scholarship ensures that college-bound athletes in Dickson County, particularly those with dyslexia and other learning differences, can celebrate Jerry’s life through the opportunities they will receive through this fund.

The 2018 recipients are:

  • Emily Beard – Beard received the award in 2017 and again in 2018.  She is now entering her sophomore year at Union University where she is playing basketball and studying special education.
  • Zachary Benson – Benson will be attending Trevecca University in the National Praise and Worship Institute studying Music Business with a minor in Music Therapy as a freshman in the fall.
  • Noah Edmisson – Edmisson will be attending Nashville State studying Business as a freshman in the fall.
  • Darius Melchior – Melchior received the award in 2017 and again in 2018.  He is entering his sophomore year at East Tennessee State University.

In addition, Cain Weeks, a senior studying communications at the University of Chattanooga, received the scholarship in 2017.

Applications for the upcoming 2019 school year are being accepted through March 31st for the Jerry Greer Memorial Scholarship. Dickson County high school seniors and returning college students can contact or visit Morgan Farms at 134 N. Main St. in Dickson, TN to get more information on applying. Preference will be given to student athletes with dyslexia. Donations to the Jerry Greer Memorial Scholarship fund may be sent to: Tri-Star Bank 719 East College St., Dickson, TN  37055.

Jerry was attending Marshall University and was involved with their Higher Education for Learning Problems (HELP) Center. The University also offers a scholarship in Jerry’s memory to assist incoming students during a tailored summer session before beginning their freshman year. The scholarship has sponsored three students in Marshall University’s Summer Prep course work. Students planning to attend Marshall University in the fall of 2019 can learn more about the scholarship and HELP program here:
