Cody Johnson, a four-time 2025 CMA Award nominee — including his first nomination for Entertainer of the Year — has released a studio version of “Travelin’ Soldier,” (listen above) one of the most requested songs at his live shows. The track made an immediate impact, debuting at No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 to become the highest-charting song of Johnson’s career. “Travelin’ Soldier” is available now on all digital platforms.
The recording quickly found its audience, earning nearly 15 million global streams in its first week. It became the No. 1 streamed country song for the week and landed at No. 11 across all genres. It also debuted in the Top 10 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart and was the highest new entry on Spotify’s Weekly Top Songs USA list at No. 8.
Johnson’s current radio single, “The Fall,” continues to climb with a Top 25 position at country radio. Written by Bobby Pinson, Jeremy Stover and Ray Fulcher, the song appears on the Leather (Deluxe Edition) album.
Johnson will appear tonight on The 59th Annual CMA Awards, broadcast live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on ABC. He is nominated in four categories: Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, and both Music Event and Video of the Year for “I’m Gonna Love You,” his No. 1 collaboration with Carrie Underwood. The show will stream tomorrow on Hulu.
