Hip hop newcomer Benji released his self-penned debut album Come Home Now today. The 13 tracks, available on iTunes and other digital platforms, showcase his personal journey in faith and celebration of spiritual freedom.

A former member of Christian boy band 3for3, Benji saw success with “Halfway” and “Keep It 100”charting on Billboard Christian Airplay at No. 40 and 29, respectively. He exited the trio during a struggle with his own faith while battling depression and anxiety to uncover his life’s purpose.

“It was a real dark time in my life. I grew up in a Christian home, attended a Christian school and became a Christian performer all the while starting to doubt if there was even a God. I didn’t understand who God was or my purpose here on earth. But then God in His incredible mercy opened my eyes and my life changed forever.”

Born and raised in Nashville, Benji is the 20-year-old son of Grammy Award-nominated and GMA Dove Award-winning contemporary Christian artist Kim Hill. From the time he could walk, Benji shared the stage with her. After she asked him to perform a bible rap, he was set on the words his family often heard — “I’m gonna be a rapper!”

He grew up alongside his brother Graham, a Stanford football player, who followed in their father’s footsteps. “I have two giants in my family,” Benji said. “It was always hard being smaller in their shadows growing up until I realized there wasn’t a required size to sing!”

Come Home Now is a reflection of Benji’s journey and the desire of his heart to share elevated, relatable messages with music lovers from all walks of life.

“I believe God uses everything for good. My pain, my struggles, and now my freedom are all things I want to use to reach people. For the first time in my life, music is just a part of the calling. It’s not the end all be all. I just want to proclaim the good news of Jesus. If I get to do it this way, I’m ready.”
