Nashville based Gibson Guitar has announced a landmark partnership with Keith Richards, one of the most iconic musicians of all time and co-founder of the Rolling Stones. The collaboration unveils two highly exclusive instruments: the Keith Richards 1960 ES-355 Collector’s Edition, Signed Guitar and Label, and the Keith Richards 1960 ES-355, Signed Label. Both models are handcrafted by Gibson Custom in Nashville and produced in extremely limited quantities, offering fans and collectors a rare chance to own a signed recreation of one of Richards’ most legendary guitars.
Only 50 examples of the Collector’s Edition, Signed Guitar and Label have been made, each bearing Richards’ signature on both the f-hole label and the back of the headstock. These will be available exclusively through Gibson.com and at the Gibson Garage locations in Nashville and London. An additional 100 guitars—the Signed Label edition, autographed by Richards on the f-hole label—will be offered via Gibson Garage stores, select authorized Gibson Custom dealers, and globally through Gibson.com.

For more than 60 years, Richards—often dubbed the “Human Riff”—has helped define the sound and swagger of rock ’n’ roll. His influence on popular music is immeasurable, and his black 1960 Gibson ES-355 stands as one of the most coveted guitars in rock history. Richards first began using an ES-355 in 1969, bringing it into the studio during the Sticky Fingers and Exile on Main St. sessions. That same black 1960 model has remained a constant companion on Rolling Stones tours since 1997.
Gibson Custom’s new ES-355 recreations are built as exacting tributes to that iconic instrument. Crafted in Nashville, the guitars were developed using advanced 3D scans of Richards’ original, along with period-accurate materials and construction methods. Each model is finished with Murphy Lab hand-aging, meticulously replicating the look, feel, and tonal character that made the original so distinctive.
“This is my standard-tuning six-string; it’s the other side of what I do,” Richards says. “My six-string stuff has always been a great Gibson—that’s where I feel at home. You can run it through almost any amp and it gives you what you want. There’s just more room for expression.”
For Gibson and Keith Richards alike, the release stands as a celebration of rock history—faithfully preserved, signed, and ready for the next generation of players and collectors.
