Nashville Rings in 4th of July with Massive Downtown Celebration

An estimated 200,000 people converged on downtown Nashville Tuesday night for the annual Fourth of July celebration “Let Freedom Sing!”

The city set off over 35,000 pounds of explosives and 65,000 artillery shells for this year’s fireworks display, which is said to be one of the best shows in the entire country.

“I’m really, really excited to be here. I’ve been talking it up ever since I first found out I was going to get to be a part of it,” Young said ahead of the show. “Fourth of July with my family, fireworks… I’m from Middle Tennessee, so it’s just going to be an amazing night.”Chris Young headlined this year’s concert with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band taking the stage right before.

People came from far and wide to see Nashville’s fireworks show, including Brandon Rutherford, who drove his family of six to Music City all the way from Virginia.

“Yeah, just decided to come last minute. We both had to work, kinda just took off, like, ‘Hey, we’re coming to Nashville,’ so we came down, brought the family, I got 5 of my kids with me, ready to have a good ole time,” he said before the celebration began.
