Rising star and Nashville based Erin Kinsey has reached a major career milestone, earning her first RIAA Gold certification for her single “Trouble.” The certification represents more than 500,000 certified units in the United States.
Kinsey received the surprise while performing overseas, with her manager, Joey Jacob, presenting her with the Gold plaque onstage during her sold-out headline show at Rockefeller Music Hall in Oslo, Norway, on Friday, August 14.
“Three years ago I never imagined I’d get to come here. Now I’m playing some of the biggest shows of my life and picking up my first Gold record in Norway, which shows the power of music to bring people together all across the world,” Kinsey says.
She adds, “I’m so grateful to the songwriters of ‘Trouble’ for trusting me with it, and that we got to travel over to Norway six different times to love on the people who were loving on my music. To me, this Gold record represents the artist-audience connection on a deeper and more special level.”
Released October 11, 2024, “Trouble” originally appeared on Kinsey’s Getting Away With It EP and reached Gold status in less than two years. The song was released through RECORDS Nashville/Sony Music Entertainment and was written by Joybeth Taylor, Sam Ellis and Laura Veltz.
The songwriters behind the hit bring plenty of Nashville credentials of their own. Taylor also co-wrote Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas,” while Ellis has written songs for Lady A, Thomas Rhett and Blake Shelton. Veltz’s credits include work with Maren Morris, Dan + Shay and Jessie Murph.
The Gold certification comes just one week after Kinsey independently released her debut album, Suede, following her move to new management in 2026. She celebrated the album’s release with a performance at the Grand Ole Opry, while the project has already received early support from Billboard, the Country Music Association and Country Central.
Kinsey has steadily built a reputation as an artist and songwriter whose music feels honest, personal and lived-in. Her songwriting has also caught the attention of major artists, with cuts recorded by Dolly Parton, Rita Wilson, Jordin Sparks, Monica and Sara Evans.
Now touring Europe, Kinsey will return to the U.S. this fall for dates with Lily Rose and Alana Springsteen.
For Kinsey, that first Gold record is more than a career milestone — it’s a reflection of the connection she’s building with fans on both sides of the Atlantic.
