Ray Stevens On the Mend After Suffering Broken Neck

Legendary entertainer, Nashvillian and Grammy Awards winner Ray Stevens is on the mend after suffering a fall on Sunday, March 29 that resulted in a broken neck.

The Country Music Hall of Fame member was briefly hospitalized in the Nashville area and is now recovering at home. Doctors have advised Stevens to wear a neck brace for approximately four weeks, but encouragingly, he remains mobile and in good spirits as he focuses on healing.

Despite the setback, Stevens’ highly anticipated new album Favorites Old & New is still on track for release this Friday, April 10 via Curb Records.

The 13-track collection finds Stevens doing what he does best—blending timeless classics with fresh material, all delivered with his signature wit, warmth, and unmistakable style. The project features a thoughtfully curated mix of beloved standards alongside newer songs from a range of talented writers, offering fans both a sense of nostalgia and something new to discover.

“I had a lot of fun creating this album, Favorites Old & New,” Stevens shares. “It really does contain a few of my favorite old songs as well as favorite new ones… I just hope Ray Stevens fans enjoy it as much as Ray Stevens!”

On the album, Stevens revisits classics like “The Look of Love,” “It Had To Be You,” and “Come Rain or Come Shine,” while also shining a spotlight on newer selections including “I Guess You’ve Never Been in Love With the Moon,” “Moving Out is Easier Than Moving On,” and “Time Machine.”

With a career spanning more than six decades, Stevens continues to connect with audiences through his unique blend of humor and heartfelt storytelling—an approach that has made him one of country music’s most enduring and beloved figures.

As he continues his recovery, Stevens has expressed appreciation for the outpouring of support, welcoming thoughts and prayers from fans.
