Elizabeth Cook has announced her new studio album Great Television, arriving August 14 via Thirty Tigers and produced by Shooter Jennings. The Florida-bred, Nashville-based singer-songwriter also released the project’s first single, “Razorwire Wall,” featuring Turnpike Troubadours frontman Evan Felker. (watch the video above)
Recorded at Sunset Sound in Los Angeles with Cook’s longtime live band, Great Television blends country and rock influences while exploring personal stories and overlooked moments in American history. The album also includes a collaboration with Wynonna Judd and marks Cook’s first full-length release since 2020’s Aftermath.
“Razorwire Wall” is a fiery duet inspired by Cook dropping an ex-boyfriend off at jail. “Razorwire Wall is a song about when fierce love finds fierce people,” Cook shared. “Having a voice like Evan Felker join me is probably gonna cause a lot of fence damage.”
The album announcement arrives alongside the premiere of The Easy Kind, a semi-fictional narrative film based on Cook’s life and career. Directed by Katy Chevigny, the movie stars Cook alongside David Letterman, Karen Allen, Susie Essman and Charles Esten.
For more than two decades, Cook has carved out her own lane in country and Americana music with acclaimed albums including Balls, Welder and Exodus of Venus. With Great Television, she continues her tradition of fearless storytelling and sharp songwriting while reflecting on the power of media, memory and the American experience.
