Wedgewood Houston (WeHo) – Nashville Real Estate
Wedgewood Houston, or WeHo as we locals like to say, is an historic, artistic neighborhood in Nashville centrally located less than a few miles from Vanderbilt University, Belmont, The Gulch, Midtown, Music Row and South Broadway.
Wedgewood Houston is noted for its Civil War history, industrial buildings, factories and warehouses. It is home to Fort Negley – the largest inland stone fortification built by Union troops during the American Civil War. In 2002, The City of Nashville appropriated funds to restore and unravel the history of the fort and it officially reopened to the public in December 2004. To this day, the project remains the largest expenditure of city funds in the nation for preservation of a Civil War site. For more information about Fort Negley, please click here.
Besides Fort Negley, WeHo’s art scene is a big reason to live here. WeHo prides itself on engulfing the community in art, culture, and creativity. If you love an evening stroll filled with art, music, food and drinks – you can’t beat the Arts & Music at Wedgewood-Houston. The Art Walk is held the first Saturday of each month at 6pm and is free to the public. Visitors can walk through over a dozen venues that include commercial galleries, artist-run collectives, open studios and pop-ups. Some of the most well-known galleries participate in the walk such as David Lusk, Zeitgeist, and the Julia Martin Gallery.
For one of the most unique nightlife experiences in Nashville, head right over to Santa’s Pub.
