The Tennessee Titans play in the AFC South in one of the NFL’s most beautiful stadiums – the 69,000 capacity Nissan Stadium (formerly LP Field) and are the best known of all Nashville sports teams. After 30 years of playing in Houston at the Astrodome, the team, then known as the Houston Oilers, began wanting a new football-only stadium. After failed attempts to get a stadium in Houston, the team opted to move to Nashville. However, Nashville did not have a stadium ready for the team when they relocated in 1996. While a new stadium was being constructed in Nashville, the Titans played at the Liberty Bowl and Vanderbilt Stadium. The Nashville Predators play in the Central Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL). They play their home games at the 20,000 capacity Bridgestone Arena in downtown Nashville. The name Predators was chosen to complement the team logo, an image of a saber-toothed tiger. In May of 1971, excavation began at the downtown Nashville site of what today is the 28-story First American Center. Construction workers drilled through 20 feet of solid rock before coming to a soft muddy area. Further digging revealed a cave containing the nine-inch fang and a foreleg bone of a saber-toothed tiger, extinct for at least 10,000 years!  …more

Founded in 1978, the Nashville Sounds are now the Triple-A affiliate baseball team of the Milwaukee Brewers (2021). Their chief rivals are the Memphis Redbirds, the Triple-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. The two cities’ baseball rivalry extends back to the late 19th century. Nashville Sounds home games are played at the 10,000 capacity First Horizon Park in downtown Nashville.   …more

Nashville Soccer Club began play in Major League Soccer in 2020 as a continuation of the USL club of the same name and plays its home matches at the 30,000 capacity Geodis Park located at the Nashville Fairgrounds (average attendance last year was over 28,000!). It is principally owned by John Ingram, owner of Ingram Industries, along with investors and partial owners the Turner family of Dollar General Stores. Nashville Soccer Club’s logo colors are the same electric gold and acoustic blue as Nashville’s city flag.   …more

The Nashville Kats is an exciting franchise of the indoor Arena Football League. The Kats are part of the Eastern Conference which also includes the Frisco Fighters, Green Bay Blizzard, Iowa Barnstormers, Jacksonville Sharks, Massachusetts Pirates, Quad City Steamwheelers, Sioux Falls Storm and the Tulsa Oilers. Nashville Kats home games are played in the 10,000 capacity Nashville Municipal Auditorium in downtown Nashville.
