Molly Tuttle unveiled a new performance video for her song, “San Francisco Blues,” today featuring her band, Golden Highway. Watch above. The video was filmed during Tuttle’s sold-out release show at Nashville’s legendary Station Inn this past spring, celebrating her new album, Crooked Tree.

Out now via Nonesuch Records, Crooked Tree explores Tuttle’s love of bluegrass, which she discovered through her father and her grandfather, a banjo player. Recorded live at Nashville’s Oceanway Studios, the record was produced by Tuttle and Jerry Douglas and features collaborations with Sierra Hull, Old Crow Medicine Show, Margo Price, Billy Strings, Dan Tyminski and Gillian Welch.

Known for their electric performances, Tuttle and Golden Highway—Bronwyn Keith-Hynes (fiddle), Dominick Leslie(mandolin), Shelby Means (bass) and Kyle Tuttle (banjo)—will tour throughout this fall including AmericanaFest and Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival. “I always knew I wanted to make a bluegrass record someday,” says Tuttle. “Once I started writing, everything flowed so easily: sometimes I’ve felt an internal pressure to come up with a sound no one’s heard before, but this time my intention was just to make an album that reflected the music that’s been passed down through generations in my family. I found a way to do that while writing songs that feel true to who I am, and it really helped me to grow as a songwriter.”

In addition to Tuttle (vocals, guitars), Douglas (dobro), Keith-Hynes (fiddle), and Leslie (mandolin), Crooked Tree also features musicians Darol Anger (fiddle), Ron Block (banjo), Mike Bub (upright bass), Jason Carter (fiddle), Viktor Krauss (upright bass), Todd Phillips (upright bass), and Christian Sedelmyer (fiddle) with additional harmony vocals from Tina Adair, Lindsay Lou, and Melody Walker.

Raised in Northern California, Tuttle moved to Nashville in 2015. In the years since, she has released two full length albums: her 2019 debut, When You’re Ready, and …but i’d rather be with you, a covers album released in 2020.

Tuttle was named Instrumentalist of the Year at the 2018 Americana Music Awards and the International Bluegrass Music Association’s Guitar Player of the Year in both 2017 and 2018, the first woman in the history of the IBMA to receive the honor.

Look for Tuttle at Pilgrimage Festival, September 25th in Franklin, TN. GET TICKETS HERE.

Old Crow Medicine Show have announced their return to the famed Ryman Auditorium stage in Nashville for their 15th annual New Year’s Eve show on December 31. Tickets are on sale this Friday, July 22, with an artist presale beginning on Tuesday, July 19 at 10:00 am.

“I’m over the moon about this year’s New Year’s bash at the Ryman,” shared Ketch Secor. “After 14 consecutive seasons of ringing in the new year from the stage of the world-renowned Mother Church of Country Music, our band has figured out a few secrets to throwing a great party in Downtown Nashville. Every year proves to be something bigger and better and even as we close in on our second decade of year-end Ryman performances, we’re still humbled every time we set foot in the place. It’s just plain holy ground. What better place to start anew at the stroke of midnight, January 1?”

Earlier this spring, Old Crow Medicine Show released their seventh studio album Paint This Town, which just hit #1 on the Americana Radio Albums Chart, earning the band’s 10th career #1. The album also debuted at the top of Billboard’s Bluegrass Albums Chart, passing Steep Canyon Rangers for the most #1s in the chart’s history.

The Caverns Amphitheater celebrated its grand opening on Saturday, June 25th with a ribbon cutting ceremony and Old Crow Medicine Show’s Hootenanny with Willie Watson, Joshua Hedley and Town Mountain. The new outdoor venue is the latest addition to The Caverns, which is world-renown for its cave concerts, and follows recent expansions including daily walking tours and adventure caving expeditions, an on-site campground for post-show guests, and a new Camp Caverns summer camp for kids.

On Saturday evening, opening night guests enjoyed cuisine from local food trucks and beverages from The Caverns Amphitheater’s new concessions building, pop-up concessions stands and The Caverns subterranean concessions counter. All told, on a beautiful summer night with a stacked line-up performing for guests who filled the hillside in chairs and on blankets, the evening had a festival vibe which culminated with fireworks over the amphitheater during Old Crow Medicine Show’s encore rendition of “Will The Circle Be Unbroken.” As the evening came to an end, approximately 250 guests spent the night under the Grundy County stars in The Caverns new onsite campground.

Throughout the summer and into the fall, The Caverns Amphitheater will host Crowder (July 23), Fleet Foxes (July 31), Greensky Bluegrass with The Wood Brothers (August 19), Umphrey’s McGee & Disco Biscuits (August 20 & 21), I Love the 90s Tour featuring Vanilla Ice with Coolio, Rob Base, All 4 One, Tone Loc, & Young MC (September 10), and The Caverns own Cave Fest with Sam Bush, Leftover Salmon, The Infamous Stringdusters, Yonder Mountain String Band and more.

The outdoor amphitheater sits at the foot of the Cumberland Plateau in Grundy County with the rolling Tennessee hills as a backdrop.

Molly Tuttle will release her Nonesuch Records debut, Crooked Tree, April 1 with her new bluegrass collective Golden Highway. The album’s title track is out today, listen and watch above.
Recorded live at Nashville’s Oceanway Studios, Crooked Tree was produced by Tuttle and Jerry Douglas and features collaborations with Sierra Hull, Old Crow Medicine Show, Margo Price, Billy Strings, Dan Tyminski and Gillian Welch. The album explores Tuttle’s love of bluegrass, which she discovered through her father, a music teacher and multi-instrumentalist, and her grandfather, a banjo player. Across these thirteen tracks, all of which were written/co-written by Tuttle, she honors the bluegrass tradition while also pushing the genre in new directions.

“I always knew I wanted to make a bluegrass record someday,” Tuttle says.

In celebration of the new music, Tuttle and Golden Highway—Bronwyn Keith-Hynes (fiddle), Dominick Leslie(mandolin), Shelby Means (bass) and Kyle Tuttle (banjo)—will embark on an extensive headline tour beginning tonight with shows at Seattle’s Tractor Tavern (two nights), Portland’s Mississippi Studios (two nights), Los Angeles’ Roxy, Salt Lake City’s State Room, Boulder’s Fox Theatre, Asheville’s The Grey Eagle and Nashville’s Station Inn, among several others. See below for the complete itinerary. Full details can be found at mollytuttlemusic.com/tour.

In addition to Tuttle (vocals, guitars), Douglas (dobro), Keith-Hynes (fiddle) and Leslie (mandolin), Crooked Tree also features musicians Darol Anger (fiddle), Ron Block (banjo), Mike Bub (upright bass), Jason Carter (fiddle), Viktor Krauss (upright bass), Todd Phillips (upright bass) and Christian Sedelmyer (fiddle) with additional harmony vocals from Tina Adair, Lindsay Lou and Melody Walker.

Molly Tuttle released “She’ll Change” today on Nonesuch Records. The new track, from her forthcoming Nonesuch debut, is co-written by Tuttle and Old Crow Medicine Show’s Ketch Secor and is performed by an all-star ensemble of Nashville musicians, including Ron Block, Michael “Mike” Bub, Jason Carter, Dominick Leslie, Tina Adair; the recording also features Jerry Douglas, who co-produced the song with Tuttle.

“I’ve always loved the rare bluegrass songs that are sung by women about women,” says Tuttle of the new track. “Songs like ‘It’s Hard to Tell the Singer from the Song’ by Hazel Dickens, and ‘Ellie’ by Kathy Kallick. I wanted to write my own bluegrass song about a badass woman who lives by her own rules. ‘She’ll Change’ is my homage to the strong musical women who helped me find my own voice.”

Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway—her band of bluegrass virtuosos featuring mandolinist Dominick Leslie, banjoist Kyle Tuttle, fiddle player Bronwyn Keith-Hynes, and bassist Shelby Means—will tour the United States in 2022 in support of Tuttle’s forthcoming Nonesuch Records debut.

During the pandemic, Tuttle recorded a covers album, … but i’d rather be with you, which was released in August 2020. The record, which features guest vocals from Dawes’ Taylor Goldsmith and Old Crow Medicine Show’s Ketch Secor, includes songs by musicians ranging from FKA Twigs to Cat Stevens, Rancid to Karen Dalton, and The National to The Rolling Stones.

Capitol Records Nashville’s Darius Rucker was surprised with a plaque celebrating the RIAA’s recent 8x-Platinum certification of his hit song “Wagon Wheel” during a visit to the Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum last week, February 12. Since topping the charts for back-to-back weeks in 2013, “Wagon Wheel” has now become one of the top five best-selling Country songs of all time and Rucker is now the only solo male country act to achieve the honor of an 8x-plus multi-Platinum song in RIAA’s history.

Lured under the pretense of seeing his exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum, Rucker was surprised when he rounded the corner to see his record label of 14+ years, UMG Nashville, holding a plaque. “What are y’all doing here?!” Rucker remarked, taking in the presence of label heads and esteemed industry guests from the RIAA gathered around his exhibit, which features the suit he wore in the “Wagon Wheel” music video alongside other memorabilia from his remarkable career. After hearing the news – and pausing to really read the plaque’s inscription – an in-awe Rucker added, “I don’t believe you. I don’t believe this! Wow, what a testament to the fans and their love of Country music.”

“Wagon Wheel,” originally released by Old Crow Medicine Show in 2004, was written by the band’s lead singer, Ketch Secor, and was based on a sketch by Bob Dylan, who is credited as a co-writer. The single was featured on Rucker’s Gold-certified, No.1 album True Believers and has since accumulated over 960 million global streams. “Wagon Wheel” also won a GRAMMY for Best Country Solo Performance at the 56th Annual GRAMMY Awards, the third of Rucker’s career.

“Even in my wildest dreams for ‘Wagon Wheel,’ the singer was never me or Bob,” remarked Secor upon learning of the song’s new accolade. “It could have been a lot of different people who had the big hit with it. It could have been one of those perfect-smile guys with the made-for-TV personalities. That it was instead a salt of the earth singer like Darius is something divine I’ll leave to the theologians to figure out.”

Mike Dungan, UMGN Chairman & CEO, recalls the conversation he had with Rucker when he first decided to record the song: “Darius called my cell phone one night and told me that he was in the audience for the talent show at his daughter’s high school. He said, ‘Hey man, do you know that song ‘Wagon Wheel?’ I just watched a band full of kids perform it, and it reminded me of how great that song is, and I want to cut it.’ I said, ‘you’re crazy,’ to which he said, ‘well I’m cuttin’ it! I’ll talk to you later!’ We (the label) thought that this was going to either be huge… or a disaster. He was right, everybody’s happy, life is good!”

“On behalf of RIAA, we’re so pleased to mark such an amazing accomplishment,” said Jackie Jones, Vice President of Industry Relations at the Recording Industry Association of America. “A certification of this magnitude is incredibly rare—occurring only a few times in our organization’s history. Darius, his team and the entire UMG Nashville family should be very proud of this historic moment in music.”

Grammy Award-winning modern American roots band Old Crow Medicine Show has announced the release of Live From The Ryman, due out September 20th on Columbia Records via The Orchard. Honoring the history and traditions of the legendary Ryman Auditorium, Live From The Ryman captures the raucous energy of Old Crow Medicine Show’s performances, recorded throughout their many headlining shows on the hallowed ground of Nashville’s Mother Church.

Old Crow Medicine Show had the incredible fortune of debuting at the Opry at the Ryman in 2001, and by 2005, were headlining their own shows at the venue. The band’s New Year’s Eve shows, which began in 2009, have become an annual pilgrimage, with their trademark performances bringing back audiences year after year. When combined with their numerous Opry performances, guest spots, television appearances and more, Old Crow Medicine Show has graced the Ryman stage over 40 times. As a band whose sound is entwined in the history of the building’s fabric and whose legacy is in the Ryman story, the time is ripe for them to release Live From The Ryman.

Songs on Live From The Ryman range from tributes to the venue’s gloried past – including landmark American tunes “CC Rider”, a blues song recorded by “Ma” Rainey, “Will The Circle Be Unbroken”, made famous by the Carter family, and “Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man”, which was performed on the Ryman stage by Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty in the 1970’s – to Old Crow classics and new favorites including “Take ‘Em Away”, “Sweet Amarillo” and the celebrated hit and fan favorite, “Wagon Wheel”.
