OneRepublic Launching Grant Contest

For Talented Nashville High School Music Program

Winning Program to Receive $10,000 & Opportunity to Perform with OneRepublic August 18th at the Woods Amphitheater at Fontanel.

Nashville, TN – AEG Live, OneRepublic and WKRN are thrilled to announce the launch of a local High School Music Program contest, the winner of which will perform LIVE with Grammy-winner Ryan Tedder and his band OneRepublic at their August 18th concert at The Woods at Fontanel as well as receive a $10,000 grant for their music program courtesy of the Ryan & Genevieve Tedder Foundation.  The First and Second runners up will receive a guitar autographed by the band, courtesy of Guitar Center Nashville, with certification to use it for the fundraiser of their choice.  The contest is open to all school-sponsored high school instrumental and vocal ensembles, a complete list of contest rules can be found at http://rewards.wkrn.com/.

To enter, music educators can visit the contest landing page to download sheet music for OneRepublic’s “All the Right Moves” or click here: http://www.wkrn.com/story/22902007/all-the-right-moves.  Once they’ve mastered the song, they simply need to film themselves performing it - any iPhone, Android or hand-held camera will do - and enter their band via the WKRN website.   The deadline for entries is 11:59pm on August 8th

From Midnight on August 9th thru 11:59pm August 12th anyone high school aged or older can visit http://rewards.wkrn.com/ to vote for their favorite performance of the song.  Schools are encouraged to campaign and rally for their groups both at school and via social media.  The 3 performances with the most votes will be sent to OneRepublic to choose the winner who will be announced the evening of August 13th.

The contest is expected to garner national recognition for the incredible talent being fostered within Music City’s schools and correlates with the recently implemented “Music Makes Us” campaign, a joint effort of Metro Nashville Public Schools,  Mayor Karl Dean and the music industry and community leaders.  With a focus on music literacy and student participation, Music Makes Us is strengthening traditional school music while adding a contemporary curriculum that embraces new technologies and reflects the diverse musical landscape Nashville offers.

This contest is particularly personal for Ryan Tedder given his ties to this city, "Having started my career in Nashville, I know firsthand how much talent this city has to offer.  We're looking forward to seeing what local high schools do with our music ("All the Right Moves"), while bringing light to the importance of music education." Says Tedder.

OneRepublic is touring this summer in support of their third studio album Native which was released March 26th on Mosley Music Group/Interscope Records and debuted at #4 on the Billboard Top 200 chart.  The set includes first single “If I Lose Myself,” the charity single “Feel Again” and new single “Counting Stars.”  In 2007 OneRepublic released their debut album Dreaming Out Loud. The album included the smash single "Apologize," which shattered digital sales and airplay records worldwide and, along with second single "Stop and Stare," propelled the album to platinum-plus sales and a GRAMMY® nomination for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals.  OneRepublic released their sophomore set Waking Up in 2009 and the band saw three singles - "All the Right Moves," "Secrets," and "Good Life" - top the radio charts.  For more information visit www.onerepublic.com.

The Ryan and Genevieve Tedder Foundation was started by Ryan and Genevieve Tedder to help further the tax-exempt causes of those charitable, educational, and religious organizations with beliefs similar to, and in line with, the Tedders.  The Foundation focuses on supporting local and smaller national organizations that tend to fall outside of the mainstream charitable giving communities, and that rely largely on the generosity of their limited donor base.
