Kenny Chesney and his band will join Neil Young, Willie Nelson, Dave Matthews and John Mellencamp at Farm Aid on September 22. The concert, which will benefit the nation’s family farmers, will be held at Hershey Park Stadium in Hershey, PA. Chesney last performed at Farm Aid’s 25th anniversary concert in 2010.
In other news, his new single “El Cerrito Place,” from the gold-certified ‘Welcome To The Fishbowl,’ shipped to radio last week and was Monday’s most-added song on country radio, according to Mediabase. It’s the follow up to “Come Over,” which was Chesney’s twenty-fourth #1 single. “The longing of this frustrated, angry, soul-searching emotion this person is feeling… I think it defines a lot of people,” Chesney said of “El Cerrito Place.” “I have felt all that emotion, and I’ve lived the song for so long. I just love what it says and I love the way Keith Gattis wrote it.”
On Sept. 24th the Academy of Country Music will honor the CMA Entertainer of the Year nominee with a Crystal Milestone Award, which celebrates his selling more than 10.5 million tickets on recent tours and honors Chesney for helping developing country acts gain nationwide exposure. The event will be held at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium.
