Easton Corbin celebrated being the first solo country male artist in 17 years to have his first two singles hit No. 1. Around 100 music industry guests came out to a BMI luncheon yesterday in Nashville to honor Easton for the success of his songs from his self-titled debut album.
The songs for which he was honored are “I’m A Little More Country Than That” and “Roll With It.” Easton performed the two songs for the attendees, along with his latest single, “I Can’t Love You Back.” Several audience members were songwriters who had penned the No. 1 songs.
Easton said he was happy that “I’m A Little More Country Than That” became such a big hit because it let fan see the real him from the start. The popular song was written by Rory Feek, Wynn Varble and Don Poythress.
During the luncheon, Easton accepted plaques and certificates from BMI, the Country Music Association and his label, Universal Music Group. Before taking the stage to perform his hits with his producer, Carson Chamberlain, he expressed his gratitude to those in the audience. “Thank you all for coming out today,” he said. “I couldn’t have done it without all of you.”
