Wedding bells are in the future for Meghan Linsey and Joshua Scott Jones of Steel Magnolia. In fact, Joshua gave Meghan his great-grandmother’s antique engagement ring before the couple won CMT’s “Can You Duet” in 2009. The two have kept it a secret all this time, but now that the secret’s out, they are beginning to work out the details of the wedding.
“I’d like to do it next year on my birthday, July 10,” Joshua said after an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live in Los Angeles.
Meghan isn’t completely convinced that will work. Although she wouldn’t mind getting married on her fiancé’s birthday, there are other factors to consider.
“We were thinking about it. We’re going to see,” she said “See, he just thinks July 10 because of his birthday and I’m going, ‘Well, do you know if it’s a Saturday? Is it a Tuesday?’ He doesn’t think about those things.” Incidentally, July 10, 2012 is in fact a Tuesday.
At the time of the engagement the two had already been dating nearly two years. Meghan wears the ring on her middle finger on her left hand instead of her ring finger because it is too big. They blame their long engagement on the fact that they are both “bad procrastinators.” When they were in Las Vegas for the ACM Awards, they almost went ahead and got married there.
“We went to dinner and we’re sitting there with our friends. We’re like, ‘We should just go get married. Why not?’” Meghan said. Obviously the couple decided to hold off and plan their wedding for another time. “He’s waited so long that he’s going to have to re-ask,” Meghan joked. No official date has been set for the wedding, but it looks like it will be scheduled for the near future.
