The Band Perry Is Learning From Tim McGraw

The Band Perry is currently on tour with country superstar, Tim McGraw. Not only are they able to watch him perform and see first hand his ability to entertain a crowd, but they can also get some helpful ideas from him. The group’s current single, “You Lie,” is the third release off of their debut album, following songs, “Hip To My Heart” and “If I Die Young.” Although the song is still a huge success, they are already beginning to write and look for songs for their sophomore album. This is where any music tips from Tim can be very helpful. Before touring with Tim, the band was on the road with Alan Jackson. He, too, helped them understand what goes into a great song.

“One thing that I appreciate so much is their golden years,” Kimberly told Taste of Country. “Those guys know a great song. We were actually playing some brand-new songs [in our dressing room] that we have been working on, and out of the corner of our eye we saw this figure in a cowboy hat. I didn’t think much about it, so we finished our song and we turned around, and it was Tim. He was standing there listening to our new music. We’re just really keen to pick his brain about what he feels like great songs are and try to get his ears around it.”

After being on the road with Tim for quite some time, The Band Perry has been able to pick up on some other aspects of his performances, particularly his appreciation for his fans.

“Night after night he talks about how the economy is bad and people have put down their hard earned dollars to be there,” Kimberly said. “He wants to put on a great show for them — technically, musically. He’s just been a real inspiration. He’s an amazing performer.”

In addition to their busy tour schedule with Tim, the three siblings will also be playing at the Grand Ole Opry for “America’s Opry Weekend 4th of July Special.” Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood, Blake Shelton, Jason Aldean and Josh Turner are also set to be at the Opry that night. The event will air live on the Armed Forces Radio Network and Westwood One radio stations.

  • Great Tim McGraw. With one of the actual year’s main traveling shows, the Tim McGraw-Kenny Chesney Brothers of the Sun Tour, arranged to start this summer, could a Tim-Kenny duet venture also be in the works? Independently, are you aware that he lyrics to the track ‘The One That Got Away,’ that is to be on Tim McGraw’s highly-anticipated ‘Emotional Traffic’ record, have been started a long time ago by one of the song’s writers, Dave Pahanish. And naturally, you can of course get the Number One Hits disc or even download from Amazon … http://goo.gl/7F0ya
