Elise Reinfeldt, the 12-year old daughter of Tennessee Titan's General Manager, Mike Reinfeldt, has been battling leukemia since July 2006. It’s a big change from a year and a half ago--when she became sick with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia--the most common form of leukemia in children. "It was a long road after that just getting my stamina up and finding energy and things I could do that wouldn't wear me out." After two rounds of chemo therapy and a bone marrow transplant, Elise is slowly feeling better. But her battle with leukemia is not yet over. "There are still some little speed bumps in the roads like tapering off my medicines. I mean, I have 33 pills that I take a day. So just taper down from that--just get used to my system not having all the meds to protect it and stuff." She also waiting for her body to accept the bone marrow transplant and in the meantime, is focusing on giving back.

Elise's father Mike Reinfeldt says, "I’m obviously very proud of her and she's been through a lot and she has the great ability to bounce back and somehow take something that's happened to her and try to turn it into something better." In the past few months, Elise has participated in a blood drive for the Red Cross. She volunteers at church and just this weekend, she helped plan and raise money for a Make-A-Wish Foundation celebration. Elise says, "I’m still one of the kids that's living. I could have died but I think god saved me for a reason and he gave me a passion for this and so I just need to fulfill that." Elise has organized a golf tournament in May to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. She also has plans to create a foundation in the near future that will give support to leukemia patients and their families.
