Default areas near downtown or with a downtown

    Greetings --

We're considering leaving Southern California for the Nashville area. One thing we like about Burbank, our current town near L.A., is that we can walk from our house to downtown Burbank, with lots of shopping, restuarants, movie theaters, etc. Are there any good neighborhoods like that in Nashville? Or, alternatively, any towns near Nashville that have their own downtown areas that are walkable? I'd prefer to avoid bedroom communities where doing anything means hopping in the car.

We have little kids, so good schools are also important.

    Thanks.

Default Southern California to Nashville Tennessee

    Hello,
Thanks for your post about your possible relocation from Burbank Southern California to the Nashville area.

In the the Nashville Tennessee area there are quite a few options that would seem to meet your current lifestyle in terms of access to stores and restaurants etc.

The school system is something that your can research at http://www.NashvillesMLS.com/nashville-schools.php

The are a few small communities with in Nashville such as Belle Meade, West End, East Nashville, Hillsboro Village but I think the area that would match your current profile would probably be the Franklin area which is just south of Nashville. Franklin has an historic downtown that has a feeling of mainstreet USA and offers a wide range of speciality stores and restuarants that make this a popular destination for tourists and locals alike. The Cool Springs area is the new retail development that is part of Franklin and Brentwood and really has all the retail outlets and restaurants that you could wish for.

Another area that is showing a tremendous amount of growth, even with the current economic climate, is the Hendersonville / Gallatin area. The Indian Lake retail development will provide a good amount of competition to the Cool Springs area when the development is fully finished, but this may take another 2-5 years to be totally finished.

Mount Juliet to the east of Nashville is also another up and coming area that has a new retail development called Providence. This has proved to be a popular attraction for people relocationg to the Nashville area given its proximity to I40 and the international airport.

The choice of diffrent areas all bolis down to the personal appeal of the different characteristics of these different communities and price points of the homes that are available. To review the various homes available just go to wwww.nashville.com/realestate and then select the home parameters that would match your requirements in terms of price, sq ft, bedrooms etc and the map will show you the distribution of homes that match your search profile.

If you have any other questions please feel free to call or e-mail me or any of the members on my team. Some of the team have actually relocated from the California area and LA so we should be able to give you a good overview of the benefits of living in the Nashville area Hope that helps.

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Default thanks

Thanks, Gary. Hendersonville looks like a nice town, at least from I can see on the internet. If we decide to make the move, I'll be in touch.
