Which Areas to Look At??

I'm planning on relocating to Nashville in 2008. I do not want to live in the heart of Nashville, but rather South of the city. I have tried to find maps online, but they only list the larger and likely more pricey areas such as Brentwood, Franklin, etc. I would like to live within a hours drive of the city. Can anyone give me a list of small suburbs. Thanks.

You had mentioned wanting to stay with in an hours drive from Nashville in the areas and smaller communities to the south. The areas such as Nolenville, Springhill, Thompson Station are my my 1st thoughts.

If you look at the map linked here you'll be able to see the estimated drive times from the center of Nashville.

You can then create your own search at www.Nashville.com/realestate and focus on the cities and areas that correspond to the areas within the drive time.

You also have: College Grove, Arrington, Triune which are more rural
but very close to interstate accesses and back to shopping and such
in Franklin Cool Springs!

I am enjoying all this information regarding relocating. However, I find it REALLY strange that Gary Ashton seems to get plugs everywhere here. Is this actually a marketing tool for REMAX? If it is, that is fine, but it should be disclosed.

Hello,
I just wanted to make people aware that even though Nashville.com covers all the information about Nashville it really refers to the Greater Nashville Area.

When some is considering a move to Nashville Tennessee they are often unaware of the smaller peripheral cities and communities that make up the Greater Nashville area. Places like Hendersonville and Gallatin are to be found just a 25 minute drive from downtown yet they have their own unique personalities and amenities. Both of these cities are well known locally for having some of the best lake homes in Tennessee and the majority of these have boat docks with the permission of the Army Corps of Engineers.

To the south of Nashville the city of Franklin has its own appeal too. It has an historic downtown that draws may of the tourists from all over Tennessee and locally too. Christmas time, the square features strolling singers and Dickensian characters all adding to the appeal of this very popular city.

Leipers Fork is another area that is perhaps considered one of the best kept secrets for having some of the most picturesque settings and a quaint village or no more than 20 buildings that has become a weekend destination for may wanting to experience that step back in time feel to the good ole days

Brentwood is a little closer in to Nashville and is only a 10-15 minute drive even in rush hour and has become a popular residential area. Subdivisions like the Governors Club, which is a manned gated golf course community, have attracted some of the wealthiest residents in the Nashville area who are looking for peace and quiet and the privacy afford by the Governors Club 24 full time security staff.

There are many more areas in and around nashville that I will add over the coming weeks and if any of the residents of these areas have any features or benefits to add I'd love for you to add these to the forum too.

Brentwood/Franklin is where you can find many of Nashville's Musicians & Athletes. If you like your distance, but still want all the convenience, Murfreesboro is nice.

Bound4BNA...you also have Rutherford county to look at that's within an hour of Nashville. The cost of living is much cheaper and a little more rural then that of Nashville.

As for me, I am looking to move back from Europe and have already spent 20yrs in Rutherford County. Since my husband will be working in Nashville, I would like to give it a try but I have no idea where the best places for children are & I am also looking at the cost of housing trying to find something more comparable to Rutherford county...Any suggestions...closer to the west end of Nashville?

We love the area. Close to downtown and the trendy 5 Points area. We have a cute little 2 bedroom, 2 bath for sale right on Riverside Drive.

I will be moving to Nashville in October and have read good things about East Nashville. Can anyone give me some info on this area? Thanks

I have visited Nashville twice now and I think it is a place I'd rather be. I am in the exterior home improvement business here in Albany, but NY government and taxes, are driving me away. My question is, Is there reasonable, yet nice apartments near Broadway? I currently have a 2 family home here in Albany, that would eventually be sold, so I am not looking to buy right away. All that would be needed is a decent 2 bedroom, with enough parking for 2 pickup trucks. I'd like to make this move by spring 2011. Any advice or tips would be appreciated. Thanks.
