Relocating Health care professionals

My husband and I are strongly considering relocating to Nashville in June 09. I was wondering if anyone working in health care can recommend a hospital that is great to work for? I am looking for a hospital with a good community reputation, and one that pays well. There are several hospitals in the Nashville area, I would like a "heads up" if possible. Also, we are wondering if there is a list of school rankings of middle TN schools that is available on the internet, published by a reputible source? I have not been able to locate an official ranking as of yet. Thanks!

Not an authority on the healthcare system and the best hospitals to work for but in terms of the school system go to http://www.nashvillesmls.com/nashville-schools.php and there you will find links to the public and private schools as well as the State of Tennessee School Report Card which will allow you to review all sorts of information about the school education record, socio economic make up of the pupils, number of expulsions etc. It's a great resourse for helping you pick an area to live based on the school system.

If you do start to seriously consider moving then please feel free to search all the homes listed in the Nashville area MLS at www.Nashville.com/realestate

You can actually then start to review the associated homes and schools. If you would like us to create a customized search based on your own search profile and have it narrowed down to a particular school district we can set that up for you.

Thanks for the helpful information. I will be looking at both of these web sites. Also, how do people around Nashville feel about individuals who relocate there from New York state? We are from Western New York. I have found while traveling through out the USA that when people hear we are from NY they always assume that we are from NY City. Don't get me wrong, I love NYC, but at times I have experienced prejudice when in the southern states. We have been to TN and absolutely loved it. I found a few blogs on city data Nashville website where people who relocated said that they were not received well. I just wondered what a native Nashvillian really thinks? Thanks!

One page that people have found very useful, just for reference, is the drive times page. This gives you an idea of the drive times from the center of Nashville to outlying areas and cities such as Brentwood and Franklin.

With regards to "outsiders" being accepted in to the Nashville community I have to say I would probably be a good test! I'm originally from England and I can honestly say I have never lived anywhere, including England, where the people are so friendly and welcoming.

I think this maybe inpart due to the fact that Nashville has a long history of people moving here for music and that has helped develop the welcoming and friendly attitude. If you add to that the traditional Southern hospitality you'll soon find out why Nashville and the South in general is an extremely friendly and welcoming place for everyone in the US and the world

Hi Gary,
Thanks again for the reply. We now have the very difficult task of choosing an area to live. When we visited Nashville we stayed with friends in Franklin. We have 3 children ages 2,3 and 6. The schools are a huge factor for us. We also would like a new community to live in. Our price range is from 150,000 - 250,000. We currently live in a house that we built 2 years ago in a new development. Our home has 4 bdrms, 2.5 baths and is 2300 sq. ft. We are interested in building, or a new home (less than 4 years old).

We are interested in an area with low crime, you know, a great family friendly area. Until we zero in on jobs, I can't say that there is a drive time that is important to us at this time. I am an RN, and my husband is an electrician & x-ray tech. I have not applied for jobs as of yet, I am waiting for my husband to find one first.

We are hoping to come down in October to zero in on some areas. I continue to see Murfreesboro, Franklin, Brentwood (too pricy for us though), Spring Hill and several others recommended as well. Any suggestions are welcomed, and we will keep you in mind when we actively begin to look.
