    Default Downtown hotel

My husband and I are visiting Nashville in Feb. We are looking for a good hotel downtown. The Hilton is a little pricey. Any suggestions? We want to be in walking distance to the nightlife. Stay at the Sheraton a couple of years ago. Looking to see if there is another option.

Default Reasonable - and close - downtown Nashville hotels

    Hi, Elizabeth.

For what you have in mind, I would recommend the following options:

    Renaissance Nashville Hotel
    611 Commerce Street
    Nashville, TN
    615-255-8400
Located 1 block from Broadway and in the business district, this downtown Nashville hotel is connected to the Convention Center, and within walking distance of Gaylord Entertainment Center, Coliseum, B.B. King's Blues Club, Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum, and Historic Second Avenue District, which boasts Nashville's most popular "honky tonks" and live entertainment.

    Courtyard Nashville Downtown
    170 Fourth Ave North
    Nashville, TN
    615-256-0900
Located 2 blocks from Broadway. Unique among hotels in Nashville, the Courtyard by Marriott Nashville Downtown is a stunning, century-old high-rise set in the heart of the city's historic district. Within walking distance to Printer's Alley, 2nd Avenue and the Convention Center

    Holiday Inn Express Nashville Downtown
    920 Broadway
    Nashville, TN 37203
    Hotel Front Desk: 615-244-0150
It's across the street from Union Station and about 7 blocks from the action!

Have a wonderful trip to exciting Nashville!

    Best Regards,

I also got feed back from someone who was staying at the hotel at Union Station. She said the trains go by at all hours of the day and night and there are no quiet rooms, she never slept a wink. Anything in the downtown area is pretty noisy but you get the convenience of room service since so many restaurants shut down here at night.

    Default Nashville Recommendation

    Hello!

I am going through the exact situation. I did a ton of research on this (we are going in January) we also want to be right downtown. We have decided go with the Hampton Inn. Address is: 310 4th Ave. S. in Nashville. Number is: (615)277-5000.

We think this place will work out nice, it is 2 blocks from 2nd Ave, where all of the action is. It is brand new, just opened in June of this year. It is priced at $179 + tax/ night for January, so probably is not much different for February. I also thought the Hilton was a bit expensive, so I think this is a good alternative to that.

If you have never been to Nashville or not for awhile some good recommendations throughout my research are the following: (by the way all the research was done by Rachael Ray- she did a show on this about 8 months ago and I took notes, knowing we would need them, A gal from our local radio station who has been to Nashville countless times and talks about her trips all the time- she typed up a whole tip sheet on their website, and then last but not least I was talking to someone on a chat board who lives in Nashville and she gave me her 2 cents from her expirence in living there) By the way they all agree with each other which is the reason I am sharing this info.

    So...

    Restaurants:

    1.) Hillsboro Village
2.) Bongo Java- Coffee Shop (Good McBongo Breakfast Sandwich)
3.) Provence (at the new library- Rachael ate the roast chicken sandwich) It suppose to be a nice place for lunch.
4.) F. Scotts- Dinner specials and live music, in a mall but great
5.) Merchants- higher end dinning I hear, but great
6.) Spaghetti Factory- good priced Italian, longer waits
    7.) Sole Mio- good Italian
8.) Rippy's- cheap beer and BBQ
    9.) Mulligan's - Good Irish Pub
10.) Loveless Cafe- for breakfast. Someone said this was a trip highlight.. if anyone on her knows about this place. Let me know I would like to know what it's all about. How far from downtown Nashville?

    Night Life:
1.) Everyone said to go to Tooties- no cover they said
2.) Legends- Rachael says to get the drink Honkeytonk Lemonade
3.) Wild Horse Saloon- Free line dancing
4.) The Stage- no cover as well
    5.) Cadillac Ranch- Karaoke
    6.) Lonnie's in Printer's Alley- Karaoke
7.) Tin Roof on Demombreau- fun bar with great live music
    8.) Robert's Bar

    Tips & Misc.

1.) If you are looking to do attractions, get the Total Access Attraction pass from the Convention and Visitors Bureau # is 800-657-6910. It's $45.00 for 4 attractions of your choice (from the selection)

2.) Visit the new Paradise Park on Broadway

3.) If you are into hockey -- go to the Predators NHL Hockey game. Super fun and you can get tickets for cheap if you sit in the 300's.

4.) Go to Country Music Hall of Fame

5.) Spend a whole day at Opryland Hotel - while you are there on site is: Opry Mills (shopping), Grand Ole Opry (go to a concert that night) General Jackson (go on a cruise dinner boat and watch the show on the boat)

6.) Other shopping-- Green Hills Mall 5-6 miles from downtown

7.) Helpful website that have been helpful to me are... www.nashville.com and nashvillecvb.com and home.comcast.net/~nashvilleguide/

I hope that helps! I will try to remember to check back and see if you have any more questions.
