Default Looking to Visit in a Safe Area Near the Action

    Hi there,

My friend and I are hoping to visit Nashville for the first time, and we were wondering what area we should be looking to stay in in terms of a hotel so that we are both close to the attractions and safe. Also, will we need to rent a car in the city, or is public transit both good and safe?

Thanks for any help you can provide - I don't know much about the area, but am thrilled about the idea of visiting!

I would probably suggest staying downtown at someplace like the Holiday Inn Express, or one of the other reasonably priced hotel.

You could get around using the MTA, but you'd probably be happier renting a car for at least part of the time you're here. There is a lot you can walk to if you stay downtown, but there's some other places you might like to visit and it's just easier with a car in Nashville.

And a suggestion, if you can avoid it, just stay off the Interstates and main road during rush hour in the mornings and afternoons. It can be a little hairy unless you're familiar with our traffic here. At other times, the traffic is not so bad.

Holiday Inn Express is probably the most reasonable place to stay in downtown Nashville. A bit more in price, but not outrageous is the Marriott Courtyard. Great idea to stay downtown so you can walk - but agree with allleycat, there's also plenty to see where you will need a car. Have fun! --pb

The Courtyard Marriott Downtown Nashville is in a good location. I don't know their rates, but if you should definitely check them out if this hotel interests you! --pb

Default Marriott Courtyard in Downtown Nashville

widgetwilk - The Marriott Courtyard in Downtown Nashville is 20 minutes from the Nashville airport. Good location - you're walking distance to Broadway and 2nd Avenue.

Thanks Jojo, as long as you do not have planes flying over all night, I will look at that one.

You're welcome. And...BTW - if noise is bothersome to you, make sure to request a 'quiet room' - AWAY from Printer's Alley.
