Default lookin for a career in music field

Hello my name is Tricia I am 25 years old and live in California. My current job is a Teacher Aide at a Preschool. I have attended a community college and earned an AA in Liberal Arts. My one true passion in life is Music I dreamed of growing up and becoming a Country music singer but soon learned that would not be my fate. I can’t sing, and then I decided I would be a musician; bought a guitar and a banjo took some lessons and that too didn’t work for me. I love going to concerts and have attended the Country Music Festival in Nashville for the last 4 years. I always thought how awesome it would be to work behind the scenes.
My heart has always been set on having a job that’s in the music field, but finding my way and the right job isn’t happening. I was hoping you could give me any information on where I should begin. Attending a 4 year college just isn’t for me. I would prefer a job with training. I have done hours of research read book and still feel completely lost. If there is any advice or information you could give my I would greatly appreciate it.

    Sincerely,

    Tricia

Try filling out applications at all of the record labels and get in on the ground floor.

    Aren't we all?

I've been here over a year and it seems like everyone you run into is a musician of some sort. It's competitive. I'm from SoCal and I think it's harder to start out and get exposure here...at least my impression so far. I'm a classically-trained violinist (university educated), willing to play many styles, except country/bluegrass. It seems like I'm incredibly limited because of that. I've been struggling to make ends meet by giving violin lessons and working another job.

I don't mean to be discouraging. It's great to go for your dreams, but you have to be realistic too.

    Good luck.
