    Default San Diego to TN

    Hi,

We'd like to move to a suburb of Nashville (within 45 minutes) to a small farm or ranch with horse facilities.

Does anyone have a list of "things to do" before a move across the country? We are coming from San Diego, CA and look to be moving Fall of 2007.

Also, does anyone have a list of areas with hig speed internet access? I work from home and must have high speed access.

I have never moved more than 30 miles, so this is a completly new experience we are trying to plan for, any help is appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Karen

    Hi Karen,
I just wanted to let you know that I have 2 other clients that are moving from CA and investing in equestrian properties.

Depending on the price range you are interested in there are some new smaller communities that share the horse facilities. These tend to have smaller lots with a communal barn etc. These communities also have the underground utilities and hi speed cable.

The more remote properties that are on the bigger sized lots tend to rely on satellite for internet connection. This is more expensive than cable and apparently not as reliable. One of my buyers agents who moved from OC in CA bought a home on 5 acres on the out skirts of Gallatin. Unfortuantely there is no hi speed cable so they have to use the internet and they do not like it all all!

With regard to preperation for the move I can introduce you to some clients and agents that have relocated here from CA and let them give you their thoughts.

I would utilize the map search at http://www.nashville.com/realestate/index.html so that you can get a feel for what your dollar will buy you in Nashville and the surrounding communities. There is an option to search for homes with acreage too.

Please feel free to call or e-mail if you have any other questions about the equestrian communities.

    Talk to you soon,

    Gary Ashton

    Default Thanks

    Thanks for the quick reply,

I was unaware of the Internet issues in the outlying areas. I will look into different sattalite providers and see what speeds they are working.

We are looking at a smaller property in a remote area, something in the $150-200k range. We currently have 3 horses and want room for them at this point.

Any help other Californians would sure help.

    Thanks much,
    Karen
