    Default from Canada

    Hello there,

I am so glad I found this forum! I've been thinking about moving somewhere in the Bible Belt since I visited Cleveland TN a couple years ago. I think there would be more opportunity in Nashville, however, I am from Canada. I am still pretty young so this would be a huge move as I would be coming on my own. Is it possible to find a job and get the employer to help with the visa? As for buying or renting (I'd prefer to buy) a house...can that be done online or over the phone?

    Thankyou and God Bless!

    Hello Heather!

If you're thinking of moving to Nashville, you're making a great choice! Afterall, Kiplinger's recently named Nashville the "Smartest City" and in January, Expansion Management named Nashville the "Hottest City"!

As far as a job search - how about checking out http://www.nashville.com/jobs/index.html This should get the ball rolling for you!

    hi there:

yes, i was going to do the same thing this year. Getting a job is rare but can happen as i tried years of experience. Also as a canadian citizen as far as i know i have checked the us consulate we are not allowed to live in the united states unless they can use us in a special proffession such as a doctor, lawyer, etc. I have thoroughly checked out while i was there also
here in vancouver. Keep me informed. I also tried to get a temporary work visa that was denied unless i was a student going to school. So there you are.
    cheers

    Hello Sher

Yes I've heard those exact same things as you. Its very discouraging as you no doubt know, especially when wanting to move to the US so much!

I was going to move to TN a couple years ago and go to school part time just so I could get the temp student visa but the cost for that is unreal..especially for a canadian because of the exchange rate. Plus as you probably know, they only allow you to work a certain number of hours a week which isn't nearly enough to pay tuition let alone live on.
I was also denied a visa and told that I had to have a trade/profession that is in demand. I was hoping someone on this site would have other ideas because I'm almost out of em'.
My 2 last thoughts on it are I'm trying to get back in school to become a practical nurse (only 2 years at college) and nurses are in HUGE demand all over. If that dosen't work..find an american, fall in love and get married. That one might be kind of difficult hehehe

    I'll keep ya posted!
