Smile Relocating to Nashville for a new job--advice on places to live, things to do, etc

    Hello,

I am relocating to nashville inthe next few months. Just got an offer from Deloitte to work with them at their office in Hermitage, TN. I'll be moving with my partner and our 16 month old daughter. At first, he'll probably be staying home but at some point I assume working in or around downtown nashville. We are looking for suggestions of areas that are safe, family friendly, affordable. I'm not looking for a long commute as we are coming from Annapolis, MD where we currently commute 45 min to an hour each day to work in DC so I'm hoping living and working in Nashville can mean less commuting and more family time.

If anyone has suggestions of areas to check out. I'm open to living close to the city or a bit farther out but likely sticking to the east side of nashville as I don't want the commute from the west throght he city to get to work.

I am concerned about schools so if anyone can give input on which areas (besides franklin) that have good schools/good districts that would be great.

I have to be there by Oct. 17th so while I have a little time it's going to go by fast and any advice this forum can offer will be appreciated. I'll be looking for a real estate agent in the Nashville area soon so any recs of who to contact would also be appreciated.

Thank you and I'll be waiting for advice and suggestions!

    Abbye

When I moved to Tennessee I used beltmann.com/new-jersey-movers.aspx. They helped me move from New Jersey to Tennessee. One place that I have found to be particularly family friendly is the Village West Apartments.

    Default Moving to East Nashville

My wife and I and our 5 year old are in East Nashville. There is a GREAT elementary here and you can send them a a great junior high and high school. You need to know how to get them in the lottery. After that its pretty easy.

I am happy to tell ya some tips. My wife would too. You can txt me.

Have a great weekend and good luck.

I am waiting on word if I am relocating to Nashville for my job. I have 3 kids all in high school. I live in FLorida now and here my daughter is in what we call a health academy program that is part of her school It will allow her to graduate with a diploma and a nursing certificate. Do you know if Tennessee schools offer anything like this? She is also in dual enrollment, but I see Tennesee does participate in that. I know she will be heart broken to leave trhe medical program and not have another to go into. Thank you
