    Default New to Nashville

I am planning a relocation from Minneapolis. I've enjoyed a very sheltered liberal environment for a good portion of my life in Minneapolis regardless of the fact we produced Michelle Bachmann. How liberal is Nashville and how GLBT friendly is it?

    Default Nashville

Downtown Nashville votes D - however, you'll find that many are social liberals while being fiscally conservative. Nashvillians are very friendly to others - gay or not. Let me put it to you this way, unless someone is being a real jerk or doing something that just begs for attention, that person will not be bothered. And as for all cities - you'll come across all walks of life. Best of luck to you - enjoy this very friendly city.

    Default Socially Liberal

Although Tennessee, and all of the South, is Conservative, there are pockets of Liberal thought, Nashville being one of them. Nashville itself votes majority Democratic. There is a healthy GLBT community here, with little if any discrimination. Check out Church Street down the hill from Elliston Place for GLBT nightlife. It's a great town as more and more people are discovering. Forbes Magazine rated it the 3 most promising "Boom Town" in the country. I'm a Realtor, so I have lots of info if you need any.
