PLEASE don't replace Aaron with that Josh Devine. I know I speak for many viewers, we will not continue to watch him. I have no intention of waking up to that..........Well I'm pretty sure that everyone who has watched him knows exactly what he is and the title is not anchor material!

Station ratings have tanked over a three year period and Wade isn't wasting any time making changes.

WSMV used to be #1 two years ago - but the bottom line is that their morning show ratings are currently a disaster and someone had to be sacrificed. The station is now conducting a nationwide search for Aaron's replacement.

And I do not have to watch this show again. Channel 2 .....You do a good job also.

I am very disappointed in Channel 4's decision to let Aaron Solomon go. I enjoyed watching him report the morning news with Holly. I'm switching back to Channel 5. Bad decision. Good luck Aaron, wherever you go!

    Default Aaron Solomon

The ONLY NBC show I watch is Channel 4 News. Now that the station has seen fit to remove Aaron Solomon, I am switching stations for good. The new director must be trying to imitate the powers to be in NYC because it’s not working, as USUAL. I will miss Holly Thompson and Aaron Solomon together and while the new guy is very nice, he’s not Aaron Solomon. Goodbye NBC.

Shame about Aaron. He had good chemistry with Holly and they've known each other since college at MTSU. In fact, Nancy Van Camp also went to MTSU at the same time they did as well. Nancy used to be more of a "hippie chick" with very, very long hair, but did the weather for alot of the student newscasts. Holly is exactly the same...she did news while Aaron was focused on sports.

I'm moving on from WSMV as well. Not because I particularly love the Ch. 4 Morning show, but the decisions they make. If they want to move in a different direction, fine, but to do it in this manner is really slimey. Solomon isn't going to go down as the greatest broadcaster on the planet, but this Josh Devine yahoo is about as boring as watching paint dry. I'll just need to find a morning show with personality and then switch over to the Today show.

Default Morning Anchors are not the problem

The problem with the morning show is the technical difficulties. The anchors introduce a story that doesn't pop up, or they announce news on a story while the wrong video is playing. For a long time it has appeared to me that the anchors have been doing their best to cover up the errors on the other side of the camera. Also the audio fades to nothing sometimes - I wondered if this was my cable provider's problem but when I change channels everything's ok. Ch 5 and 2 always come in clearly, but I'm not used to those anchors, and it may just be me but their entire set looks like it would blow over if the A/C came on (looks cheap). Holly Thompson is great - and she always finds time to respond to a viewer's email. I agree with an earlier post that Aaron has seemed miserable for awhile. I very much like Paul Heggen. He has a dry humor which may take some getting used to for some, and he is extremely intelligent. I like that he gets straight to the weather news without bumbling around on private jokes to specific listeners (yes someone else did that). He also throws little tangent facts in that I think are interesting. Josh Devine is fine - I'm getting used to him. They better hope Holly doesn't see greener grass elsewhere!

Long before the Local and National News became "Entertainment", there were (15) minute segments of News at 6:00PM and again at 11:00PM. There was one News person during this period of time that gave all the news, weather and sports. There were No Satelite weather reports and very few on site reporters. Still photos were used rather than full crews with cameras, reporters and made for TV News. Nothing was staged.
Now we have stations fighting for ratings with little regard for the Viewer.
WSMV has been my Home for All the News Weather and sports. Everyone has become a spe******t in their segment. To date, MSMV is what I have determined as the most professional in the Nashville Market. The most accurate weather Team, (One weak Link) but the most professional I have experienced in 60 years. Several field reporters have been replaced and for the most part, good Management decisions .
"Cool Schools" is Not News and something I can live without. Sports coverage is also a weak link. The coverage is not with the format this station has settled in with. The sports Journalists are not in sink with the Team effort. They are rushed and give blurbs rather then stories. The folks who deliver the sports news are not interesting and seem to rush to get to the next story.
I think we all miss Tim, Dan and now Aaron. However, the world has not come to an end. We are still getting the news. The only thing different is who is bringing it to you. If anyone is unhappy with the decisions of WSMV, I suggest you visit the other Local Networks and see that there is nothing Professional about those teams. I don't believe we need a (3) Hour Local News report each weekday morning. It is the same old News repeated over and over several times. If anyone is up that early to head out to work, I suggest they turn on the Radio in their car while driving.

    Default Switched to Ch 2!

Been watching Ch 4 mornings since I moved to the area 5 years ago. Aaron& Holly were part of my morning routine. Having moved here from the Northeast it was refreshing to see a Hometown Boy anchor in the city he is from. I emailed Ch 4 & never got the courtesy of a reply when I asked about Aaron. Neil & Julie now have my mornings. Big mistake Ch 4.

I don't understand. The folks at WSMV who are responsible for "spelling" and "grammar" relative to the news casts SHOULD be replaced since they can't spell squat. Are these the editors? Ha!

Then, there is Aaron, who is/was a great anchor and he is gone. Go figure. Holly and Paul are very good, but not complete without Aaron. Guess we will have to watch another channel.

Channel 4 is certainly not up front about those employees that leave for whatever reason. Boo!

Josh Devine is horrible. Zero personality and enough to put you to sleep, but fits right in with WSMV vanilla, boring slant on local news. I mean, they have Terry Bulger (sp) doing sports, for god's sakes! He may be the worst and most ill suited sports caster in the history of nashville broadcasting....

Thumbs up Thanks for the posting...

Thanks to all who did the research and found out what happened to Aaron Solomon. I am not convinced that Josh Devine is the best replacement for Mr. Solomon. Paul Heggen just seems uncomfortable on the air period. I saw him at a surviving the storm event and he seemed a little uncomfortable speaking in public to about 150 people. Holly seems like she is trying to make the best of the situation. Wow, its hard to do your best when you're afraid you're next on the chopping block.

Exclamation Channel 4 wsmv what are you thinking?

Dan miller was the best, and bill hall was so down to earth! Demetria seems sad these days since dan's gone, but i think she's great! Rudy kalis is awesome! Getting rid of aaron solomon is ridiculous? The only thing channel 4 has going for them is their excellent weather team! The management at wsmv is assanine! Don't re-invent the wheel just keep the road smooth for it to roll on, and the only way to do this is to clean house in management! They better be glad it's not me running there business i would clean house. I would also let the anchors have more say in what needs to be done to keep channel 4 at their best! I'm sorry to see aaron go, but if this is the best wsmv can do aaron is so better off! Hey aaron enjoy not having to get up so early every morning for a change? Aaron get your own gig, and start making all the money!

The bean counters win and we as viewers lose. When will "Local" TV stations realize that hiring a person from the area helps people connect and want to watch. Simple common sense. Just don't understand.

I will certainly miss Aaron. I am sure I will continue to watch, as Holly has been part of our mornings for years. I have enjoyed what seemed like a wonderful friendship between Holly, Aaron and their families. I do tune in for the news, weather and traffic, not the anchors. But it sure helps when they seem to enjoy being there. I miss Mr. Tim, but have adjusted to Paul. I wish Aaron the best and hope that he sees how many people miss him. He may not be easy to replace, just as Dan Miller can't be replaced.

WSMV has made some poor decisions, I stopped watching the morning weekend show when Lilla left. I now watch NewsChannel 5 on weekends.

    Default Arron Solomon

It's a shame that Arron Solomon did not fit with WSMV new management's vision of the direction of the station. I'm not sure anyone really will. Arron joins the growing list of WSMV on-air talent forced to leave; Tim Ross, Bob Sellars, Sara Dorsey.... and probably more to come. Holly Thompson is probably safe since she is responsible for the cash-cow WSMV's pseudo-infommercial ... More At Midday where most of the "Guests" have to pay to appear on that show. I want to know ... is Jennifer Johnson still married? She is no longer wearing a wedding ring on her left hand. Has all the Hawaian Tropic money she inherited gone to her head?

Unhappy What a shame! What a loss!

It is SO unfortunate to hear the news about Aaron. He and Holly made a super team; it was a joy to wake up to/with them each day! Both were professional and complemented one another. Upper management needs to rethink their decisions; however, it is apparent that many viewers have already tuned into other stations. Channel 2 will be my personal replacement. For Channel 4's sake, they need to do ALL THEY CAN to ensure that Holly or Demetria never leave. Without them, WSMV will be a sinking ship!

Channel 12 execs line pockets as company sinks Posted by Jose Lambiet
    http://www.page2live.com/2009/11/09/...pt/#more-15182

While WPEC-Channel 12 drifted into bankruptcy over the past few months, the bosses at the CBS affiliate nickel-and-dimed their employees.

There were unpaid furloughs here, and straight pay cuts there for the likes of station stars Suzanne Boyd, Liz Quirantes, Curt Fonger and John Matthews.

But what many workers, some paid as little as $30,000 a year, didn’t know is that, at the same time, those ordering the cuts were stuffing their bank accounts with bonuses.

In all, according to a Page2Live estimate based on bankruptcy documents filed in October in Delaware, the Freedom Broadcasting station’s top six managers grabbed more than $400,000 in performance bonuses from September 2008 until August.

That’s in addition to some salaries in the 300Ks-a-year range.

Good performance on a sinking ship? And you thought that corporate ‘tude was confined to Wall Street?

“Often, a management group sets its own salaries and bonuses, so what do they care where they get the money from,” said University of Florida management professor Henry Tosi. “Their bonuses probably came from the pockets of their employees and creditors and equity holders.”

Brien Kennedy, executive vice president for broadcast sales at Freedom Communications, only got a bonus of $34,250 to bolster his $300,000-plus salary. With the company claiming assets of $277.4 million and liabilities three times as high, Doreen Wade, the West Palm Beach-based president of Freedom Broadcasting on whose watch the bankruptcy occurred, pulled down a salary just short of $300,000, according to the paperwork. She also received two bonuses worth a total $150,000. And then, according to the documents, she had the nerve to fill out expense reimbursement forms for sums like $12, $24 and $29. In all, Wade was paid $485,035 for the worst year in station history. Wade didn’t want to discuss it Monday. She referred me to a company mouthpiece in Los Angeles, Bob Emmers, who had no comment. Within an hour, Channel 12 workers received a memo ordering them to keep their mouths shut.

Another manager based here, Executive VP for Broadcast Sales Brien Kennedy, received a total $302,446 in the 12 months leading to the collapse. He received one bonus worth a small BMW: $34,250.

The other four managers listed as WPEC directors are based at the Freedom Communications headquarters in Irvine, Calif.

In a scathing story about the company, the Phoenix-based heatcity.org Web site pointed out that the top 19 executives at Freedom Communications, Channel 12’s umbrella company that also owns newspapers, made a total $2.6 million in bonuses this year alone.

Said one Channel 12 newsroom employee, asking that no name be used: “It’s a corporate crime. Anyone deserves a salary, even a good one. But bonuses now? It’s unconscionable. Gross.”

I hate to see Aaron gone, watched him grow up. As for the morning show anyone getting up at that time of morning would have a hard time being cheerful or least I would. Interesting to read the varying comments. Personally, I thought Aaron, Holly, and Paul were a great team. Josh seems like a nice guy, but it seems like he is trying too hard and he is not being natural. Not sure how much longer I will watch Channel 4 in the mornings.

Now a wild idea, and pure speculation.....with Aaron's background in sports what are the chances he shows up as Channel 5's Sports Director when Hope Hines retires this summer? He may have needed to leave to start the clock ticking on a non-compete agreement and get that out of the way.

Six plus years of watching Channel 4 exclusively in the mornings has been a pleasure with the 'right' mix of personalities. Tim Ross leaving took some getting used to Paul H. but he has become a part of the morning show, not a replacement for Tim. Over the last week or so I was hoping Aaron was on vacation and I had just missed the 'explanation'. This morning (Monday) when he had not returned to the air I knew something was very wrong. I am throughly disappointed in any company that we welcome into our home and get to know their on air staff to act like the viewers have NO common sense and won't notice someone missing and question it.

We did notice and we do care who is on the television channel we allow into our homes and how they are treated.
We the public at deserved an explanation. Best wishes Aaron - hoping you update your Facebook page of where you are working.

I am very disappointed to hear about Aaron Soloman. The problems that the Channel 4 morning news show has does not involve their on air talent (except maybe the traffic reporter). Unhappy Aaron Solomon

personally, I think the anchor with the most talent was Aaron versus Holly. She appears to artificial, he was more real and very talented, better connected with viewers. i also miss Tim, and feel I will no longer watch this station for the local news. It is a shame that the station is not more honest about people just disappearing. I mean we do not have to know exact details, but really, nothing??? Very disapointed.
