    Default From MN to Nashville?

I am starting to consider moving from MN to Nashville next year. I've visited Nashville every year for the past five years and feel very comfortable there. It seems the cost of living is better there (especially cheaper housing and no income tax), the climate of course is better and it will put me much closer to many friends I've made in that part of the country. None of them want to come to MN! I have already established a tie with one church.

    Challenges:
-Employment. I'm 51, not looking to be rich, just pay my bills and be able to take in the musical environment. I am a strong writer with knowledge of the music industry, and my other fall back areas are computer tech support and administrative assistant work. I've worked temporary before and am generally regarded as one of the strongest temps by any agency I've worked.
    What's the job outlook there?

    -Safety:
What are the safe affordable areas to live in? I know Brentwood and Belle Meade are among the safest but also the priciest. (By the way, I've walked around downtown at night on my own, never had any problems. But I've noted the panhandlers are some of the boldest I've encountered anywhere).

Any insights, comments or advice would be appreciated!

    Hello,
The job market and the music industry is not my area of speciality really. I do know that nashville is a growing rapidly and usually that growth is reflected in the job market so I don't think you'll have a problem finding some sort of work related to your field. Music industry jobs are always hard to get as they are so sought after.

With regards to safe areas I've been all over the Nashville area and never felt threatened at any time. I'm sure there are a couple of areas that have declined in to less than salubrious environments but you can consider just about any area in Nashville such as Hendersonville, Mt Juliet, Franklin, Antioch, Hermitage, etc to be safe and affordable at some level.

If you use the map search function at www.Nashville.com/realestate you be able to see the homes in these area by just clicking on the map on the area name. The yellow house icons represent the homes for sale. Just mouse over the icon and you'lll see a picture and basic info about the house.

If you scroll down just below the map you can enter your own search parameters in terms of min and max price, number of bedrooms, baths , sq ft etc. Each time you change a parameter you see that the map repopulates and reflects your search parameters.

    Hope that helps
