Waitress moving to Nashville from MN

I'm planning on moving to Nashville from Minnesota in January 2010. I'm looking for some advice on where to rent an apartment. A friend is moving with me. We both work in the service industry as waitress/bartenders.

I'm trying to save as much money as possible before moving, but wondering if it's an easy task to find a job in the service industry once we get there. Also, any tips on location would be great!

Trendy areas for young people include Hillsboro Village (can be pricey, but really nice to be able to walk to a lot of places), Green Hills, Belmont, East Nashville. A lot also depends on where you'll be working - if you want to move out a bit from the city, check out the Cool Springs / Franklin area.
