Thread: Where is Tim Ross?

    Unhappy Tim Ross

WSMV in the am just isn't the same. Tim was perfect but can understand the grueling schedule. Too bad "parttime" is not in the vocab. Or 'fill-in" especially for the others as this state certainly has some uncertain weather. Am so happy to hear that he is not leaving the area. Will look forward at some time to seeing him again.

Without Tim Ross, c4's morning show is just like all the rest. Boring. As an older guy myself, I really appreciated his old time, folksy style. He made everyone feel like a friend. Sorry c4 management can't comprehend anything outside of the cookie-cutter mold they think is the only way things can be done. The main reason I wound up watching c4 news was because of guys like Dan Miller, Bill Hall and Tim Ross. Now the blandness of unimaginative conformity wins again.

Default Mr. Tim I miss YOU

Mr. Tim I missed you when we moved back to Iowa last year. We came back to TN for a visit last night and turned on Ch. 4 this morning and lo and behold....NO MR. TIM !!! I am heartbroken! HISS BOO to Channel 4 !! I still have a tape of Mr. Tim talking about the picture I sent in of my iris that bloomed late in the fall.....I was so thrilled. I hope you find a new career that will be even better than the last and wish you well for the future!!!

    Default morning show

    Tim,

Your weather segments were a nice break from all of the "real news" and crime reporting in the Nashville area. What we the viewer want in morning news is seriousness. Since you were let go, we no longer watch that morning show in this household or in our office. We wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors and would definitely get my vote for Governor.

    Good luck Tim.

    Default No more Mr. Tim?

We also have changed morning shows. The local mornings are not meant to be all serious, that is what the major cable news is for. Tim, best of luck in your future endeavors. Maybe you will end up on one of the competing news stations.

    Default Better without Tim Ross

I wish him the best but, honestly, I always muted the TV or changed the channel when he came on. He was just a little too whacky for me, first thing in the morning. I guess I never thought he was as funny as he seemed to think he was. It is a shame that it ended the way it did but I think Channel 4 is better now.

It wouldn't have hurt them to change Tim's schedule a little, plus his ever changing ties and goofy way of telling the weather is what the viewers liked anyways! I think everyone should boycott Channel 4 News and just watch another News station like Channel 2 or 5! I will miss watching you tell the weather, Tim Ross! Screw You, Channel 4!

Sincerely, Someone Who Will Be Watching Channel 5 News Now!!!
Watched Channel 4 every morn until Mr Tim was no longer on there. Waited thought maybe he was on vacation. When figured out he was gone and no one on the news cast had mentioned him or what had happen my Husband and I switched to channel 5 morn news. Holly and Aaron are enjoyable to watch, but in my opinon it took all three to make watching worthwhile. We miss watching you tell the weather Mr Tim.

    Default Tim Ross

You guys are right. THe rest of the Channel 4 weather team is BORING, BORING, BORING. THey are so slow to get out the information, especially during severe storms, and their tedious, untalented presentation make it excruitiating to watch. Also, I agree with a previous poster...Aaron Solomon is the most boring person on TV...and I'm sick to death of his "cool school" banter. Tired of the fake smiles on the morning show, too. Channel 2 and 5 and Fox are much better....

Tim made the usually boring early moring show on channel 4 a fresh breath. He added a dimension that Holly can't top. And Arron????

The other channels have benefitted from Tim's departure. I now enjoy channel 5.

    Unhappy We miss Mr. Tim

We are completely disappointed in the way your station handled Mr. Tim*s departure. He is someone who brought life to your early morning broadcast which was sorely needed. Aaron and Holly are not a good fit together. Something needs to change with that situation. Now I generally watch channel 2 or 5 since your early broadcast is not longer interesting.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at channel 4. Some days much more than others, of course. I can't tell you how much I love Holly, Aaron, Jennifer and Tommy (He's the guy I talked to off camera). All of them, and the crew in the background, are the best in the business! To a person they are truly wonderful human beings. Just an awesome eight years! Lifetime friendships were created. It was hard to walk away.* I liked the company. I really didn't want to have to do it!* I had no choice.

Why did I do it? Great question. Tough answer.

Reason #1— My "style" of broadcasting was being discouraged more and more. It just isn't where they want to take their morning show. And, whether I like it or not... it's totally their call to make. It's their company.

Reason #2— The work schedule was my undoing. I was out of bed at 2:00am and often still at the TV station chasing storms after 2:00pm. The morning shift often gets caught in the squeeze as storms start developing midday. And, throw in the evening severe weather seminar appearances on top of that!* As much as I enjoyed doing the seminar presentations and meeting the folks, I just couldn't keep up with the schedule. And, of course, there is the 24/7/365 on-call status for severe weather.*With storm warnings these days being thrown out like candy at a Christmas parade, we are constantly in "severe weather" mode. The stress of that alone takes soooo much out of you.

Put that all in the hopper and there wasn't much room left for life, my wife and my health. That work schedule leaves absolutely no room for error or correction. It's very unforgiving! The fatigue it produced over time was overwhelming. I just couldn't do it anymore! There was no refuge.* Eight years left me completely spent.**And my workload and job responsibilities were increasing. I just didn't have any gas left in the tank and my mental and physical health were going downhill in a hurry. Thankfully, five weeks later, I've recovered considerably and feel much better. I no longer feel like I'm upside-down.

Where am I going? Nowhere. This is home. We love this place. And I'm glad you asked. I'm open to any and all possibilities—TV Weather and/or News included. I'm unemployed... I'm open to any good opportunity! I'm pursuing my seminar/speaking and media training interests.*Need a speaker at a luncheon, banquet or organizational meeting, etc?* I'm your man!* Please pass the word!* Heck, I'm even toying with the idea of running for governor.* Whatta yuh think?

May I take a moment to thank you for your vote of confidence through the years? Thanks sooooo much for your viewing support. People in this part of the country are the best people on the planet. They "get it!" My viewers (you) have been (and are) awesome. As I said, I'm not going to ugly away somewhere! This is home. I'm here to stay... for the duration! To be continued... Mr Tim

    Default Morning news in Nashville

    What's the point before 6:00am?
As a Nashville native, I remember back when Ralph Emery would start broadcasting at 6:00am. That was just about the perfect time to start broadcasting.
Over the past several years the morning "news" time slot has advanced up to what?
    4:00am?
Really? is the 4:00am demographic interested in listening to new car commercials screaming loud, or in paying attention to some poor sap in front of a camera doing his/her best to appear wide awake and delivering "hard hitting news"?
    Puuuleeze....give me a break.
I can't possibly understand how these poor people put in such hours, day after day, week after week, month after month.

    And for what?
    Oh no...!!!!!
There's a thunderstorm moving into Brentwood.....let's bring in our whole "team of experts".....
    LOL

It all seems like such nonsense.

When I saw Mr. Tim on a commerical yesterday it dawned on me that I hadn't seen him in a while so I did a little checking and came upon this sight. Thank you Mr. Tim for letting us know that you are ok. Totally understand your reasonings. Been there, done that and am currently in your same situation but I know great things are ahead for you and me. May God Bless you and your family.

Been missing Tim, but not Holly. I'm sure she's a very nice person, and she's definitely pretty, but I feel like her style is patronizing. WSMV has lost it's vibrancy. The loss of Miller, then Ross, has sucked most of the convivial, relaxed, and often jovial personality to the show. If they did not like Tim's approach they should take a look at what Al Roker is doing for the national news.

My viewing has changed to either 2 or 5, occassionally Fox. I find all three lack the personalities that give them life, with the exception of Rudy at sports on 4 and Hope on 5 there is little that gives the news any dynamics, and I'm not a real sports fan, so what does that say. I'm as often as not to watch the national news on WSM or CNN.

I certainly hope Tim gets a spot. His brand of presentation truly gives live back into whatever he does.

    Default Glad he's gone

Not to be mean or anything, but I couldn't stand Tim Ross on WSMV. He was super annoying and always sneaking little conservative commentary in whenever he could. It was extremely irritating. I avoided WSMV when he was on, but now I watch it all the time and it is so much more enjoyable. Now he's on 99.7 on the radio sometimes and he's as annoying as ever. All he does is downplay impending weather events. This severe weather we're supposed to have tonight - today he said it isn't going to be what it's being built up to be so don't worry about it. He said that last about the snowstorm we got that hit at rush hour a few weeks ago and that was a mess. He should just go retire for good and sit in his house watching Fox news all the time.

I couldn't agree with you more. Glad to know others found him annoying and condescending. Bet he does sit around watching Fox (or is it SHEEP?) News all the time. Dan Thomas and Paul Heggen are *much* better broadcast meteorologists than Tim Ross.
