First thing, how much are TN fishing licenses? I would need out of state since I havent lived here for 6 months yet. Also, can I buy one at any Walmart or sporting oods store? Its that way in Indiana, just wasnt sure if its the same here.

Secondly, what are some good fishing spots in the Nashville area? Preferably on the north side, Im in Madison and I really dont want to have to drive too far. Im not really looking for large bodies of water, mainly ponds and smaller lakes where bank fishing is decent. Louisville has an urban fishing program where the city stocks lakes at the city parks to promote fishing. Anything like this in Nashville?

Check out this thread - http://www.nashville.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25 for some fishing information. As far as a license, yes, you will need one. They go on sale every year on February 18th and they're good for the entire year. You can get most licenses at sporting good stores, hardware stores, boat docks, all Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency regional offices and at most county court clerks. However, you may find your easiest way to obtain a license is by calling 888-814-8972. Although you'll just get a temporary license, you'll be able to fish right away. I think they'll mail out your permanent license within a couple of days.

The cost for a fishing license varies. Give them a call at 888-814-8972 for prices. Have a great time fishing and if you find some really great spots or some that are not so hot - be sure to let us know on the Nashville.com Forum. We look forward to hearing from you again!

I usually get my licenses at Walmart. I'm not sure if it's the cheapest, but if you're there anyway you might as well. I think I paid $20-30 for the year last time I went.
