Hi!

I am a single, 30 year old female who has lived in NYC for the past 5 years and now I'm ready for a change. I work in the entertainment industry, and would like to stay on the East Coast area because I like 4 seasons of weather.

I've heard lots of good things about Nashville, but have yet to visit. I plan on doing an exploratory trip soon...

I was wondering...

*What neighborhoods are safe but offer plenty of sidewalks/pedestrian friendly? Living in NYC, I walk everywhere, and even though I'll be getting a car when I relocate, I'd like to be in an area where it would be possible to walk around and run errands.

*In addition to the above, what neighborhoods offer a nice mixture of people, not just race and religion, but also in terms of age and marital status. Being that I"m single, I don't want to live entirely surrounded by married people, but I also don't want to live in total single-ville either. A nice mixture is what I'm looking to find.

*Is Nashville a dog-friendly city? I plan on having a dog, so I'd want to live somewhere that offers a nice park.

Any help or insight is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Well first off, NYC & Nashville are two entirely different cities and you can't even compare the two. There are condos and apartments downtown, but they can be pricey, so it depends on what you can afford. If you have not already done so, definitely do an 'exploratory trip'. Check out East Nashville - in and around downtown, Green Hills, Hillsboro Village, Belmont, Vandy area. There is a dog friendly park in Centennial Park (close to downtown) in the West End area as well as one near East Nashville - Shelby Park. Also, FYI - downtown Nashville and areas within close proximity are pretty diverse!

Hello,
I think the previous post was very good regarding the areas that you may find interesting and worth a look.
Dog parks seem to have become more and more populra in recent years, and as a owner with 4 dogs thats great news. East Nashville has some great little parks in general for walking and exercising so taking the dogs there would be a good mix of exploring the neighborhood and walking the dogs ;)

I know that some of the downtown condos try and cater for dog owners but really it all depends on what kind of dogs you have. having a Border Collie in a condo/apartment is not going to work for you or the Collie....but maybe a Yorkie will be happy with the dog runs provided.

Hope that helps
