Hi,
It's possible that my wife and I will be moving to Nashville. We are going to be visiting the city in June and would like some local's opinions on where the nice neighborhoods are...not the new gated communities, but rather the older communities that have great neighborhoods, schools, and older homes that may/may not need to be remodeled. Perhaps close to a nice area of town that has great shops, pubs, and parks.
I've seen a lot of great websites, but they are the typical Chamber of Commerce websites that make everything look spectacular. Also some information about which sections of the city are up and coming and which are falling into disarray. Also any great suburbs that are outside Nashville that are nice communities would be helpful.
:)
Thanks,
Kiley

Hey Kiley,
I'm the official realtor with www.Nashville.com so I can give you a quick over view and also point you in the direction of some other useful links.
Its difficult to point you in the direction of the good schools but if you go to http://Schools.NashvilleBuyers.com you'll find a link to the state site giving the schools "report" cards.
In general Nashville is experiencing a lot of growth and that includes the peripheral communities and cities like Hendersonville, Gallatin, Mt Juliet, Thompson Station, Spring Hill, Mufreesboror etc. These are all withing a 20-40 minute commute of Downtown Nashville.
These communities can all be found linked directly to the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) at http://AreaMLS.NashvilleBuyers.com You can the create your own search profile in terms of price range and year built etc. The site gives you access to info and pictures about the homes.
If you have any other questions please feel free to visit my site www.NashvillesMLS.com
Talk to you soon,

We are in our mid 20's and will be moving out of Chicago within the next 6 months. we will be looking for jobs, place to live, and trying to learn as much as we can before hand.
Any information on best places to live that still have quick access to retail but available to parks and outdoor activities would be great.
Commute we arent too worried about, not yet, considering we now live in the city voted WORST commute in the nation.
thanks!

There are lots of great places real close to downtown Nashville (if you're also considering that...) like Green Hills (very nice, upscale), Elliston Place near Vanderbilt University along with Hillsboro Village or Germantown (historic). East Nashville is another suggestion - but either you will love it or hate it. Best thing to do is to be in Nashville and explore to see what's going to best fit your needs. Oh yea, about 20 mins away (depending on traffic), check out Franklin - really nice area.
