Hey Everyone,

I'm about to make my big move in October and I'm selling all my furniture in hopes to buy some cheap stuff there. I was wondering if you guys had a store like Ikea in your area? With cheap furniture that will still last a while. My current apartment pretty much has all Ikea stuff, but I saw that you guys don't have one there, so I was wondering what the closest thing is.

Thanks so much in advance!

A bunch of my clients order from IKEA in Atlanta and have their furnishings/decor delivered. There has been rumors of an IKEA store coming soon to Nashville... so hopefylly we won't have to put up with this work around for long! :)

Hello,
I am the owner of Nashville Cabinet Comany and I am considering investing in an a full IKEA kitchen cabinets display for our showrooom here. This would save buyers the trip to Atlanta, as well as offer expert kitchen design and installation services.
Is their anyone out there who thinks Nashville could use a service like this?

I was googling and I found that modernash.com does precisely that -- goes to IKEA in Atlanta and brings back stuff for clients. I don't know anything about it. Just saw it on the web.

Honestly I've found that some of the least expensive and best quality furniture I've picked up has been 2nd hand on places like Craigslist, garage sales, etc.
It requires doing a little looking, and a discriminating eye, but you can get excellent furniture (sometimes even antiques) that people are just looking to unload for a few bucks.
Good luck filling your rental,

I certainly think there would be interest as long as the mark-up on the goods, i.e., "delivery fees", are reasonable. From what I saw on Modern Nash, a mark up on a mirror of $99 at Ikea is $41 and is based on the price of what you wish to buy, for example, for a kitchen estimated at $3,800, it was a delivery fee of $680!! It only cost $39.99 plus about $100 in gas to go get it yourself with a Ryder Van (it comes with 1000 free miles). Heck, you could even stay overnight for cheaper. But having a certified installer in Nashville would be great.

I would agree that a kitchen installation show-room of Ikea stuff would be well-received in Nashville. I personally am anxious for an IKEA to open here since ModerNash is a total ModernRipoff.

The cost for delivery equates to essentially an upcharge of TWENTY-FIVE PERCENT! And as the other person stated, you can rent a u-haul and drive (even with high gas prices) all the way to Atlanta, pick out what you want in-person, and bring it back yourself for waaaay less than that.

If they want to use a successful business model that has consumer-value, then the cost associated should not increase as your price of purchase increases...YOU GUYS MAKE ONE TRIP whether I want one item for 1200$ or 7 items for 120$ that takes the same space in your truck.

WHAT A RIPOFF!!! Thank goodness this business-life is to be short-lived when we hopefully get an IKEA here in Nashville eventually.

every business marks up from their costs - that's how business does business. That coke you bought at McDonald's cost three cents to make, but you still bought it. Convenience has a price, don't knock that some are willing to pay it

I would love to have an Ikea in Nashville. I just moved here and need a bunch of furniture for my new house. I don't have the money to buy expensive furnishings from regular furniture stores.
