What do you all think about staying at the millenium maxwell house? Can you recommend some good places to visit if we like history both attractions and dinning?

I don't know much about that particular hotel - I hear it's OK, but NOT within walking distance of downtown. If you want to stay close to all the activities, bars, restaurants, then definitely stay downtown. Holiday Inn Express is generally your most economical and is right off of Broadway. Other hotels all within walking distance include the Sheraton, Courtyard Marriott, Hilton, Hermitage (expensive), Union Station - to name a few...
