Good (non-chain) restaurants in Nashville?

I'll be heading to Nashville to take my son out for a birthday dinner, want to find a special place that we can't go to here in the ATL (no Ruth Chris, Maggianos etc) any recommendations?

The Stockyard, Sperry's, Merchant's, Chappy's, Valentino's, Jimmy Kelly's.

If you're a fan of Mediterranean food, I highly suggest Taboulis! I have never once been disappointed eating there. They're located on Belmont Blvd., across the street from Belmont University.
