New to the forums and will be spending our anniversary in N'ville in April. Any suggestions on Hotels close to where all the action is? We have always visited Memphis and love the Beale street area and the kind of entertainment that there is. Is there a part of downtown that would be appealing to us and what Hotel would anyone recommend that is also close to the same area. Thanks in advance for the feedback.

If you like Beale St. you'll love Broadway. It's right downtown and there's live music at every bar -- most with no cover. Tootsie's is always a good place to start.

Is there a good place, something like the wildhorse, to take the kids? You know...somewhere the parents can have fun as well as the children.

Wildhorse Saloon is a family-friendly restaurant & entertainment venue. It's really fun, but not too sure it's such a good place for the kids after 10pm. After 10pm - anyone under 21 must be accompanied with an adult. ;)

I have found on the web an area called "The District". Is this also an area that you can walk around from bar to bar?

Yep! You can walk from bar-to-bar and restaurant-to-restaurant in "The District" - which is basically downtown Nashville.

You have many choices! Here are several to consider: Best Western Downtown Convention Center, Sheraton Nashville Downtown Hotel, The Hermitage Hotel, Courtyard by Marriott Downtown Nashville, Renaissance Nashville Hotel, and the Hilton Suites Downtown Nashville. I heard that the Marriott Courtyard is a favorite - I've stayed at The Hermitage and it's AWESOME, but it's on the pricey side. You can find all of these hotels on this site (Nashville.com) under the Hotel & Resort Category. After your visit, let us know where you stayed and send us your feedback!

I'm going to agree with you on this one - Rocketown is a great venue for teenagers to hang out. It's got a couple stages (one larger, one more intimate), plus a coffee shop and a place to skateboard. It's a really laid back environment and gets some of the coolest shows! A lot of popular alternative artists play there when they tour in Nashville.

They are ABSOLUTELY the BEST thing to see when visiting Nashville. I'm in Memphis and driving up there to see those Predators play today :)

We're staying at the Holiday Inn Express in March. Friends we're going with have been there before and say it's a great location, walking distance to all the bars and restaurants. And it also has a great complimentary breakfast.

You can walk to all the bars/ restaurants, Country Music Hall of Fame, Musicians Hall of Fame....if you want to go to Opryland, you'll need to drive. It's just 10/15 minute drive.

I've been to Nashville once and had a great time. where do I stay to be close to the street that has the guitars? What is your weather in April? Are the bands great bands gone from the bars or do they stay? I remember great bands with guest players. Did the gig for the tourist and still want to return. Talk to me...

The Hilton is the best place to stay to be right there. April could be warm OR cold, spring is very unpredictable. The bands are always there. Running across a great guest player is purely luck.

Are there any rock or metal clubs you know live bands not concerts?
There used to be Brass A, Cantrells etc.

I was wondering if I was allowed to perform on open mic nights and other events in Nashville if I'm Canadian.
