1st time looking at neighborhoods

My husband and I plan on moving to Nashville in the spring, to be near his family. We are going to visit this weekend, and want to drive around the neighborhoods and get a feel for what area we want to look for a house in. His family lives in Franklin and Brentwood, and we don't want to be too far from them.
Can anyone advise us as to what neighborhoods we should drive around this weekend, or any sort of maps, directions, where to start, etc?
Unfortunately his family won't be able to be with us, so we are on our own, and are unsure where to start.

If you can afford Brentwood or the Franklin area, then I'd say just stay there. Beautiful, family friendly, good schools, restaurants, shopping - very nice areas.

Great neighborhood in between Nashville & Brentwood. Fabulous neighbors and homes.
