What about Malls and whatnot? where would you recommend to go for that type of shopping atmosphere?

Opry Mills, Mall at Green Hills and Cool Springs Galleria. There's also a fairly new outside shopping area in Murfreesboro - The Avenue Murfreesboro. It's a bit further south, but still an option.
