Hi, thanks for such an excellent forum, just stumbled on it and I had a quick question...

I'm coming to Nashville next week for the first time. I have a generous budget with the company I'm with, and I was trying to figure out where I might be most comfortable...

I will have a rental car, so it doesn't have to be smack in the middle of everything, although it can be (doesn't matter either way)...

I know everybody is a little different, but for me, the main things I look for in a hotel are, in order of importance:

1) new and very comfortable beds
2) clean, modern, and spacious rooms
3) contemporary hotel with nice fitness center, nice business center

At the moment, I'm booked into the Hilton downtown, just because it seemed very nice. Some of the reviews I've read seem to indicate that it's fantastic, while others seem really down on it. Since I've never been there, it's hard to judge. Any thoughts? And in terms of a modern hotel that has great beds and nice rooms, any better suggestions? I saw on one Website that the Hermitage Hotel is a five-star hotel, and it looks beautiful, but the truth is it's not quite my style. Okay, well thanks so much, I'm looking forward to coming to your amazing city!!

IMO - I prefer staying in the downtown area. I would think the Hilton would be just fine - as will the Sheraton and Renaissance Nashville Hotel (it was renovated in 2007). Oh yes, and the Doubletree (renovation just completed a month ago which included new beds). Staying at Opryland is another choice - great property, but you are a 10 minute drive from downtown. Of course I would suggest the Hermitage, but you have mentioned this isn't your taste. Check out the others. Don't think you can go wrong. Enjoy Nashville!

Hilton will be close to everything. I have stayed at the Hampton Inn close to there and a great location and nice rooms. Close to Hockey arena too.
