I have been thinking of moving myself, wife, and 2 little girls to Nashville from San Antonio TX for a while now. I am a Car Salesman by trade, but would like to find a career selling something else. My wife is a Asst. Controller for a Retail Property company. I have been looking on Monster, and that for a job. But it is not that easy to find a job long distance. I want to move but not without a job lined up. I am happy to pay for our own move, but I cant even get a callback. I am sure that we are not the first person to ask this, but does anyone have advise as to where to look?

Be persistent. Get your resume out there - is it on Monster? Does your company know you want to move to Nashville? If so, you can always get a job within the same line of work (and maybe they can help with a referral) so you can at least have some money coming in when you're in town. Have you considered that? This way you can get a feel for Nashville, the different neighborhoods, schools, etc. And, when you do start getting interviews, you'll be here and you won't have to stress about arranging a last minute trip, getting time off with your current job and not to mention spending lots of $$$ on travel.

You may also want to place a free ad on the Nashville.com Classifieds in the Help Wanted category. See: http://www.nashville.com/classifieds/

Good luck! :)

Yes I have my resume on Monster, but I get the feeling that most local employers want to find someone local. After all it is much easier for them, I would be the same way.

I think they have an idea, or at least a few of them do.

I will be getting a job in the same line of work, however being in Sales they tend to let you go as soon as they know you are wanting to part ways. We are planning a trip to Nashville with the kids, the middle of June. I am going to take a few resumes to hand out, just to get a jump start on things. We also have a Realtor lined up to look at a few houses. Does anyone have an idea as to where the best schools are, we wanna make sure that the kids get a good education. We have a girl that is headed to the 8th, and one that is going to the 3rd. Any help would be great!!!

Thank you,
Faron

My family and I are going to visit Nashville in about a week. I have a few Job Interviews lined up, and we want to look at a few homes as well. We just talked to a new Real Estate Agent about re-listing our present home this evening. She is a Remax Agent and said that if I listed with her, and then bought a home with a Remax agent I could get a special rate. We want to look at about 5 houses on June 12Th. I wonder if we can get a Remax Agent get in touch with us...perhaps give us a special deal on their end???:D
