I am coming to Nashville in early November for the Titans football game and was looking for a decent hotel that is nearby. Anything within walking distance? If not, then would like to be centrally located, perhaps near the strip. Also looking for golf course recommendations... thanks.

Assuming you were also going to do a few other things while you're in town, I might suggest something like the Holiday Inn Express downtown.

The stadium is on the east side of the river; downtown is on the west. It's a bit of a walk from downtown to the stadium, but I don't consider it a long, long walk and there is a pedestrian bridge across the Cumberland (as well as other bridges). Of course, if it's pouring down rain that day, then it wouldn't be a very pleasant walk, but then football fans are used to suffering to watch a game (at least it's not like Green Bay here).

There are some decent places over on the stadium side of the river, but if you're also going to visit a few other places in town (probably around lower Broad and Second Avenue), then it makes sense to stay near downtown near those areas and then walk to the stadium. That way you're only making the walk over the river and back once; where if you stayed on the stadium side of the river you might need to walk to downtown two or three times, depending on your other plans. I hope that makes sense; it's a little hard to put into a few words.

I'm not sure what to tell you about golf courses. There are some public courses that are cheap to play, but will probably be marginal come November. Then there are some private courses that are nicer but further away. It sort of depends on how much you want to pay for a round, and how far you're willing to travel.
