my son and I are visiting Nashville end of September to see the world's greatest band, The Raconteurs, at the Ryman....was hoping y'all could recommend some budget friendly restaurants in the vicinity of the Ryman....I heard Demos was good, in addition to Jack's BBQ....we're also going to the Hard Rock, as my son collects memorabilia from every one he visits.....Thank you!

I have a hard time recommending budget-friendly restaurants in that area, because, like most locals, I rarely go there for casual dining. Besides Demo's and Jack, there's Merchant's. It's not exactly inexpensive, but I don't consider it outrageously expensive either. There are any number of places along lower Broadway and Second Avenue, as well as around the Convention Center. You can walk around and probably find something you'd like; just stay away from the places that look completely touristy; the food at those place is generally only fair but the prices are high for what you get.
Your son might also like a visit to the Wildhorse Saloon. I'm not sure who's booked in late September, but it's surprising who does play there. In the past few months Ringo Starr, Pat Benatar, The Tubes, and The Wailers have all played there. He might also enjoy B.B. King's.
