Hi Nashville,
A bunch of us will be in Nashville over New Years weekend to see the Patriots play your Titans. I heard something about a "guitar drop" which is similar to the Times Square ball drop.....does this still go on and if so where can we see it?
There was a New Year's Eve Guitar Drop a few years ago, but apparently this event was not successful, therefore not repeated. We've been told there aren't any city type, public New Year's Eve events in downtown Nashville. :( However, you'll be sure to find downtown hopping with parties from bar to bar. Have fun & be safe! ;)
Cheers!

In 2009, the Guitar Drop was brought back and retitled Bash on Broadway. The event features up to five musical acts, a dazzling fireworks display an Guitar Drop at midnight. The event will be held on Broadway between 1st & 3rd Avenue and kicks off at 7:30p.m. It's free and open to the public.

I'm looking to start making plans for 2011 New Years Eve..We want to stay downtown and watch the guitar drop from a hotel room. Can you help us with that?

Great idea thinking so far in advance because you really do want to stay downtown for an event like this. Another thing to keep in mind is Music City Bowl held every year at the same time. Thousands flock into downtown Nashville, so more reason to book a room as soon as you're able. The only hotel that might offer a view of the Guitar Drop is the Hilton on 4th & Broadway. As for hotel options in the area, the most reasonable is probably Holiday Inn Express on Broadway. Others to consider include Sheraton, Renaissance Nashville, Courtyard Marriott, The Hermitage (luxury), Hampton Inn. Also check out Embassy Suites Nashville at Vanderbilt ( (http://www.nashville.com/embassy-suites-nashville/)it's very close to downtown - like a quarter of a mile) You can find more information here: http://www.nashville.com/embassy-suites-nashville/ They have great rates and I know you can book now. Good luck!
