Everyone keeps telling me that I need to go to Nashville to explore the scene, so I'm excited to be heading down this August. I'll be there from the 16th to the 23rd. Are there any solo-artist-friendly venues that people can recommend?

I've seen listings for about a half dozen open mics which I will likely check out, though ideally, I'm looking for an opportunity to play more than a song or two.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

I have music and other information here (http://www.myspace.com/jeffbrownrocks), if anyone would like.

always,

The best one in town, if you're good enough to get on stage, is the Bluebird.

Several bars and clubs around town let people play for tips, especially during the day (it's not as bad as it sounds during the tourist season). You might see if you can play at Tootsie's. Personally, I don't think much of the place (it's running on a long-ago history), but you never know who might come in there just to show an out-of-town guest around. Oh, and Hank Williams' ghost is suppose to live upstairs . . . since he spend so much of his time in life downstairs at the bar.
