neighborhoods close to downtown

Relocating to Nashville with our 2yo daughter and are interested in living close to downtown and within walking distance to restaurants, coffee shops, etc. Any neighborhoods like this? Also anyone have insight on preschools or childcare in the area. Thanks in advance for any and all help!

You might look around the Midtown (Hillsboro Village/Vanderbilt/21st Avenue) area. It's a little pricey but is probably close to what you're looking for.

Also, perhaps the Edgehill area. A more urban area near downtown is Germantown; it was once a somewhat rundown area but it's coming back.
