I will be in Nashville a couple of days this summer and I am new to this forum. Not really sure where to check on this site, but I was wondering where there are some good lakes/river/spots to fish around town. I don't need a guide or boat, just some suggestions on places to fish for bass (small or large mouth).

Thanks,
Bull :D

Check out J. Percy Priest Lake in Nashville. I know that smallmouth & largemouth bass fishing is really good in the winter, not sure about summer. You may want to give them a call at: (615) 883-2351 or (615) 889-1975. Another lake to consider is Old Hickory Lake in Hendersonville (not too far from Nashville) although overall, fishing here is just average. You can reach Old Hickory Lake's resource office at: (615) 822-4846 or (615) 847-2395. Caney Fork River is good fishing (trout) spot, but it's about an hour east of Nashville. One more - try Cheatham Lake which is about a 1/2 an hour away from Nashville in Ashland City. Fishing info hotline for them is: (615) 792-2190.

Lots of catfish in the Cumberland and some smallmouth here and there. If you have time try to hit the Caney Fork. It's 45minutes west on I-40. Great trout and smallmouth. You can fish off of the bank in many places.

Hi,

One type of fishing that many people enjoy is pier fishing. When you go fishing off of a pier, there are several fishing safety rules that you should keep in mind. First, you should only place your feet into the water if you know that there are not vicious fish, such as Muskie, in the water.

So I have a 12ft fishing raft with a trolling motor. I have never really done the trolling fishing before. Not sure what sort of setup I need as far as rod/reel/tackle etc. Any good places to get my trolling on?
