Hi,
My cousin and her family are working on moving to the Nashville area. We have lived in southern areas and know that insects can be a concern. What are the insect problems that you would consider an aggravation. Or something to be aware of, also how about snakes. How are people from the state of New York received. When we relocated everyone thought New York was only New York City and many people still considered us Northerners and had an attitude. Thanks to anyone giving info.

Common insects in Nashville include: spiders (wolf spiders, house spiders, black widows, brown recluse), ants, roaches, mosquitos, wasps and bees.

Let your cousin know that Travel & Leisure magazine ranked Nashville as "America's Friendliest City"! This sure does say a lot about Nashvillians! :D

We wish your cousin and her family the best of luck! ;)

I moved from Chicago last July. People down here are, thankfully, pretty mixed with regards to where they are from (in Nashville anyway). So it's not as po-dunk as you'd expect. Farther from Nashville, though, the more Southern it gets and you may have a harder time adjusting/fitting in.

As for bugs - the biggest issue for me have been chiggers. Ugh. Take caution when in the garden.

How much of an actual problem are these insects in Nashville?

Not a BIG problem - they're just among common insects in Nashville. A lot of it depends on the type of home you live in such as an old home vs a new home. If you have a problem with these buggers  , an exterminator can surely take care of it! :D
