I am a middle-aged woman currently living in Indianapolis. I would like to move closer to my grandbaby in Atlanta, but don't want to live in Atlanta. Nashville is the halfway point between here and there. Soooo, my question is, where should I start? Obviously I would want to have a job first, but I think it will be difficult trying to find employment while I'm still living here. There is also the problem of where to stay when I move there. I have a little money saved, not much but enough to pay for a place to stay for two months, but what happens if it takes more than a couple of months to find a job! All reasonable suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Depending on what type of job you're looking for, your best bet would probably be to already in Nashville so you can easily interview. What kind of work are you into? Have you looked into 'temp work'? It might now pay a lot, but certainly better than nothing! Just do a search for temp agencies.

If you plan on living in Nashville - it can get pricey when you don't have a job. A 'burb which may interest you is Murfreesboro - it's about 30 mins south of Nashville (which means closer to Atlanta!) While I do not know specific rental rates, I can tell you it will be much less expensive than a lot of other places. The only potential problem is that if you end up with a job in Nashville - the 30 minute commute can quickly double during morning & afternoon rush hour.
